Thirty-four years after launch, Voyager 2 continues to explore

Quote:
On August 20, 1977, the intrepid spacecraft Voyager 2 launched from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, FL on what was supposed to be only a four year mission to Jupiter and Saturn. But exactly 34 years later, Voyager 2 has cemented itself into the upper echelons of unmanned space exploration, continuing to beam back data as it searches for the barrier between our solar system and interstellar space.

1977 - Earth

1979 - Jupiter

1981 - Saturn

1986 - Uranus

1989 - Neptune

2007 - Termination shock

2015 - Heliopause, the end of the Solar System

They've said that they are leaving since the 80s  Roll Eyes.
Must be lonely in the sky. alone. with no one there to comfort you. Millions of miles away from earth. with only a cd which wont make a sound in space for reasons the star wars crew did not grasp. Push on little voyagers. And after they leave the radio range they are destined to float aimlessly through space Cry Cry Cry

Most people think that flying a plane is dangerous, except pilots because they know how easy it is.
Arguing with a pilot is like wrestling with a pig in the mud, after a while you begin to think the pig likes it.

I wish Star Wars ONLY was like that. ALL the science fictions movies, and TV series, and comics, and Anime, and... and... and... whatever, regularly add effects that have nothing to do with reality, justifying themselves with the need to make things more spectacular... when even one of the most destructive space phenomena, like a supernova, makes NO sound at all. Roll Eyes

There is no such a thing as overkill. Only unworthy targets.

There is no sound when Dave Bowman blasts into Discovery's airlock.

As soon as the lock fills with air the sound resumes.

I think spacesuits are great.... only you have to chew your own farts. I hate people who feel obliged to share and then think it is funny to try and gas you and then leg it Angry
