Is this the face that launched a half dozen songs? Probably.

Patti Boyd is an English model and photographer, and the former wife of both George Harrison and Eric Clapton. She has claimed that she was the inspiration for love songs written by both musicians: Harrison's "Something", "I Need You", "For You Blue" and "Isn't It a Pity", and Clapton's "Layla", "Wonderful Tonight" and "Bell Bottom Blues".

A bad day at golf is better than a good day at work.

In my experience as a former rock musician (late 60's, early 70's), and also as a composer, inspiration, wherever it comes from, whether it be friends, wives, other musicians or groups, names of streets (like Penny Lane), etc., is always welcome, but the last word is the resulting composition, for that's what we, the people, hear. Inspiration is one thing, but the result is what the composer is credited for, and rightly so.

Having said this, if Patty Boyd was in fact the inspiration for those tunes and maybe others, and she probably was, then all the better. Even musical greats like Harrison and Clapton would not turn away the spark of an idea. That's what makes music what it is.

It would be interesting to know of other inspirations throughout musical time.
