So it's been announced that Sky is taking over of broadcasting all formula 1 on TV, BBC will show about half of the races but they also say that will be via the website.
Bernie Ecclestone stated in recent years that F1 would always be free and available to everybody, seems like he's lining his pockets even more.
I've followed F1 since mid 1960's, not everybody has sky and not everybody has internet.
Quote from bbc website: Barbara Slater, director of BBC Sport, said: "We are absolutely delighted that F1 will remain on the BBC.
I don't call the arrangments as 'staying on BBC'
I watch very little TV, formula 1 is my main reason for switching the TV on in the first place.
And has far as buying Sky Sports, that not going to happen - so goodbye to live Formula 1 from me.
May the Mynd be with you.
So far my number of landings either passenger or pilot equal my number of takeoffs, but that is due to change

Ok, I know that the following is not perfect, but if you have a satellite set, you can still watch the race live, on the German channel RTL, then tune your radio to 5 live for commentary.

Hi Matt,
I used to do that many years ago but no longer use a sat system, just the Sky box now.
May the Mynd be with you.

I don't watch f1 these days. Not about racing these days. It's about who has the best people behind the laptops... And a little driver skill.
Most people think that flying a plane is dangerous, except pilots because they know how easy it is.
Arguing with a pilot is like wrestling with a pig in the mud, after a while you begin to think the pig likes it.

we don't have sky sports, it's easier for my wife to buy me new RC aircraft to get her to agree to any more channels.
Just wait till they do change it, I'll have to find my teddy bear and rattle.
I don't mind the techy stuff in F1, at least in some form or others it gets onto the public roads in some format.
May the Mynd be with you.

I've just sent Bernie a message on Facebook thanking him for ruining F1 for millions of British fans, I suggest everyone does the same... maybe he'll learn something

I pay my TV licence every year, I don't see why I should have to pay double that again to have to watch what I want to watch.
I think F1 is going to taking a popularity beasting in the UK...
And I don't give a monkeys about his daughter and her wretched pampered bitch lifestlyle
I'll just have to find free online viewing...

It's ridiculous. Sky Sports is what, £20 a month extra? I wouldn't pay anything near that, especially when the race rules constantly seem to be worsening. The DRS 'activation' mumbo jumbo just makes it sound like a computer game where you need to activate a power-up to win in your race. Whatever.
Nice knowing you, F1.

I've joined a couple of good pages on Facebook for not liking Bernie. It isn't often I get upset enough about something to protest but this time....

Ugh. I understand your pain. (Or should i say my parents wallet understands
.) But my main problem Is It's no longer about who's Got the balls to put their foot down early/ Brake late for corners. It's about whose computers are fastest e.t.c. Or You can no longer put more power in your car than the other team. It's all bout when you get a second behind the ahead driver You push the DRS or whatever that button that moves The spoiler and you cannot use it on the main straight and you can Only use it once during a lap aargh
TOO MANY RULES!!!

Not wanting to defend bernie as he has not exactly helped with the costs of buying the rights. But the people who you need to blame for this are the BBC. They sold the rights to F1 to sky themselves. Bernie just said ok. Also they are now producing with the money a show that is to rival the x factor and is appearing next year costing £30 million + for two years, and also its to save bbc 3.
What I find funny is, the government say they cant do a thing about it. Yet they still force us to pay a license fee to the BBC.
The previous few races have all had massive audiences, including the hungarian GP being the most watched program at the time. Which for what is usually the dullest race for most people, is huge.

I've always viewed Hungaroring as one of the better circuits along with Monaco. Really hard to overtake and some wheel-to-wheel excitement!

I cant say im keen on this decision, but its somthing ive followed for years and although reluctant to fork out for sky sports - i do have a sky+ HD box already - i dont know if i can put up with delayed 'highlights' either the full race or not, always end up hearing about the result somehow and it kinda ruins it.......
Thanks BBC. Thanks to the way your uniquely funded, youve well and truly shafted us. But you still found money for your silly move to salford or wherever, and no doubt your spending goodness knows what of 'our' money on the forth coming olympics. And although i help to fund you, you never asked me, or probably anyone what our views on all this are.. Bah.....
