Hi,

If you are running a fairly up to date PC with 4GB Ram or more I see no reason not to install the standard way.

There are some who will tell you it won't run but I and many others have little or no problem with FSX as it came out of the box. Believe me, anyone who knows me knows I would not hold back if I had issues with it!
I used to run it on my old 2006 PC with little or no problem and now I am running it on a 2011 PC and again it runs smooth with almost max settings (the only reason I don't have max settings is the screen display which would be distorted if I did ... plus a couple of others that don't suit my system - like DX10.)

If you are running it on a system you think may struggle you might want to consider some of the tweaks by Nick Needham and others. See the Stickies at the top of this board.

Cool

@chriswade,
install the FSX and register it using it's own registration licence.
Start fsx and fly the default flight - exit FSX
Install the acceleration and register it using it's own registration licence.
Again fly the default flight.
Now start tweaking the settings to suit you and your PC.

As Pete says, there is no reason to not let it install in default location.
If your on a 64bit OS you may have some trouble with addons like aicarriers/2 , you'll need the 32 bit version of Java Runtime Environment and not the 64 bit one as FSX is a 32but program.

It's worth looking at http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.html for having your fsx.cfg tweaked.
Mentioned eleswhere in the forum.

regards
Steve

So far my number of landings either passenger or pilot equal my number of takeoffs, but that is due to change Smiley
