I just got my new PC, and I've been out of the game so long I don't know what to use to take screenshots on Windows 7.  Recommendations?

Generally I'll use the default "v" key, but here are some other options.

I use FRAPS, the freeware version. I don't make movies so it is perfect for screen shots. You can choose image format, .bmp, .jpg, .png, or .tga, as well as what key

you would like to use to capture the shot. You can also designate where the shots will be saved and it has a tic box to repeat until pressed again. You type in the number

of seconds you want to pass before it repeats. It will also make 30 second movies.

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

+1 Wink

I have a registered version.  Well worth the money if you have it.

I went outside once. The graphics weren't all that great.

I used ScreenHunter 5. This is good and freely available but one of my friend 'Snagit'. It is also good with advance tools.

Personally, I just use the   print screen
                                     system requst
button on my keyboard and paste into an image program and save it.  It's the way I've always done it, and it's always worked for me.

Great free program....

BTW club, you are missing out dude. One of these programs WILL make your life much easier. Give it a shot...
With your Print screen method, you have to switch tasks sice you can only store one shot on your clipboard. By using a program, you can take as many shots as you want, then go through them afterwards, delete the ones you don't like, than send the others to your editor (which it will do for you automaticly...) Seriously, it will change the way you look at taking screen shots....

I agree Club.  After my last drive epic fail, I upped to W7 but still use the "v" thingie with my rez set to shot requirements whenever I'm on a mission to post a screenie......which ain't much anymore.....if at all.  Sorta gettin' the impression I'm the red-headed stepchild anymore, but I digress. Roll Eyes

But hey, with Win7 and the ol' fashioned way of doin' things I've been getting good enough results to satisfy my main wallpaper desires.

Hope that helps. Smiley

I have my screenies ('v' key hits) directed to a dedicated folder in my Win Pic library with no worries as to capacity.  Storing 473 at the moment with capacity only limited to disk space.  Had almost 50 stored from one "flight" due to consecutive 'v' hits when I was trying to get an acceptable shot for the current contest.

The only "inconvenience" is opening with Paint, naming it, and saving as a JPeg.  If it too large for a screenie post the resizing with Paint is a snap.
