Hi, i've just done a fresh install FS9 and the gps on all aircraft flickers constantly. Certain gps functions work, others don't. Tried a complete reinstall, no luck.. who can help a long lost soul?

Maybe if you were a little more specific?

Never tried to make much of the default GPS, even if it's probably the best simulated thing under FS (though not without errors or limitations, as usual, compared to the real thing), but you could get more answers (though, as inferred, very probably not from me) if you specify what options seems to not be working, and if those do not work in ANY plane or only in specific ones, or in specific situations.

By the way, your complete reinstall DID include a previous manual deleting of the old FS9 folder under C:\documents and settings\*your login*\application data\microsoft\ correct?

If you simply ascertained the deletion of the main FS9 folder but NOT of this pesky particular folder... the problem MAY just lay there, somewhere.

There is no such a thing as overkill. Only unworthy targets.

Thanks for your advice. Prior to being specific though, eliminating the flickering will hopefully resolve all other issues.

what other issues are you facing? Maybe it is one of those issues that is causing the GPS to act up.

I've had the same problem from time to time... I think it might be when the sim is trying to load scenery and you get that slight drop in FPS for a short time.... maybe they are related.   Not 100% sure, that's just my best guess.

One other issue is from time to time in outside the cockpit view  the aircraft shows as silver shards, like the aircraft is coming to pieces mid air. Doesn't happen in any other views, and only very occasionaly. Most gps functions are essentially useless, for example i can't key in an airport code, it's as if the keyboard has no effect on the gps. The same software worked perfectly in XP on my previous computer, now I have  Windows 7. I have tons of ram, run at 40-90 fps at all times so graphics/ram (Intel R media accelerator) not an issue.
