The problem with Bombardier is that they don't build aircraft, but assemble aircraft from world wide producers (remember the cheapest of three bids philosophy) and that is reflected in the quality of the product (I unfortunately have an inspectors ticket for the Q-400 Sad)

Hi Matt... Smiley

Have not heard of too many problems this side of the pond and lots of these Dash 7s and 8s flying.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombardier_Dash_8

The few aircraft accidents I just looked up were due to Pilot Error and no fault of the aircraft.

I know several folks that fly both types and they love them...

Boeing bought DeHavilland and then sold it to Bombardier so not sure what happened in-between the mergers.

Canadair which became the core of Bombardier was another sell off by the Canadian Government who at the time did not want Canada to have an aviation industry.

Canada has built the finest aircraft in the world over the years and thank goodness we have a new government with a majority that is building our aviation, space and naval industry so that we will not have to rely on foreign products, civil or military... Wink

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

I'm really happy for everyone at Bombardier, they've made some lovely kites over the years and with those new engines I think they'll be raising the bar for everyone else.
I hope they succeed big time (of course I'm somewhat pro-Canadian) Cool Cool Cool
If you want build horror stories my best friend used to assemble BAe 146s... I'd never get on one!
