Goodly morning all...

As I sit here sipping on my second cup of percolated coffee made from the coffee beans the old girl buys at the A&P Store and grinds to her selection, something got nagging at me...

One of our teenage grandson's asked me why I was waiting to purchase a new computer and a motion unit that it sits on.
He told me on the weekend I was a procrastinator (Someone who postpones work especially out of laziness or habitual carelessness).
Me a procrastinator? Humbug...I bet he can't even spell the word.

He has his Glider Pilot Licence and is working on his Private Licence through the Air Cadet Program. He still has several years before he can be a licenced driver of a motor vehicle...

Loves computers and computer games...well don't all teenagers. He uses FSX at home but his parents, one being our son are both very very strict with their children and the childrens times are very much regulated between studies, sports, organizations (Scouts, Air Cadets...etc...family and personal time.
I remind our children sometimes that our grandchildren are not in the military and they need to be kids, will leave it at that...

Don't worry folks grandfather seems to stick his nose in with all his children when it comes to our grandchildren...the old girl is worse than I am...

Well this young buck asked me several good questions on the weekend about why I did not buy payware along with getting the new computer system.
My answer was I was waiting to see what comes about with this new Microsoft Flight which I think will be in the stores for Christmas 2011.
Flight should be much more realistic and I want everything designed to work with that program just like this electronic gizmo was designed only for FSX and Vista.
I can not see spending money on something now which may not work with the program I want six months from now.
Well, our grandson thought for a moment and then responded.
Gramps he said, when FS98, FS2000, FS2002, FS2004 came out you said they were only games and you used them for practicing your IFR work and procedures.
Now you have FSX and it has turned into a hobby for you as well a learning tool and grandma say's you spend a lot of time communicating on the computer with a lot of other old geezers who have nothing better to do with their time...

So much for Simviation and you lot...

Well I explained as one gets older and can not do the sports activities they used to do, maybe the old girl and I will not renew our aviation medicals, after all it will be close to eight decades we are slowly closing in on and not even sure how long we shall keep our driving licenses so we both need something to fill in the time.
So yes, the electronic gizmo and FSX have become a hobby of sorts.
The folks I communicate with on the electronic gizmo are very knowledgeable folks from all walks of life who have banned together because of their love of aviation, real or simulated.
The forum is called Simviation they belong too and some of them are actual real aviators.
I shall ask your father if he will let you have some time to look at the forum, I tried to get him involved but he is just too busy aviating.
Perhaps in the fall of the year gramps was his reply, got to go to Air Cadet Camp again this year...it is going to be a great summer again...

Well I got my amunition stored for the little beggar now when I see him again...
The last two days I was having trouble getting a scenery download to work and two members of Simviation answered my post and low and behold I have more Freeware Scenery that works great.
So Payware I do not need right now for FSX as long as we have wonderful folks out there contributing to this fabulous hobby, game or learning tool.
Simviation is a medium, well regulated and respected. The membership is much like the gang of Old Retired Rocking Chair Flying Geezers who gather around the Bull Shit Table on the weekend at the local bugsmasher field to dissect aviation in all it's forms.
Giving and receiving freely information and assistance regarding simulated aviation or the real thing is what it is all about folks, and it can be found right here at Simviation making this electronic gizmo and forum a wonderful Hobby, Game and Learning Tool...

Have a Great Day...
