...involved walking around the Cessna factory for an hour looking at business jets being built "to be more familiar with what we are working on".
I was bored, still in training and everything, and ran out of things to read. I asked my mentor if I could go over to the factory and walk around and she said 'sure, anytime you want to. I suggest you pay close attention to [insert plane here]'.
I wish I could tell you guys what I'm actually going to be working on, but it's secret. Maybe in a few years

I'll trade jobs with you any day.
My typical day consists of dealing with highly educated jerks who are paid by the hour to make my life miserable.
They are called "opposing counsel".
A bad day at golf is better than a good day at work.

I always remember that classic line in Bee Movie with the mosquito at the end "I was already a blood sucking insect, all I was lacking was the brief case"
Remember it is 99% of lawyers that give the rest a bad name
There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

I personally have no beef with the legal types, my lawyer in Hungary is an exceptional lady and close family friend (I taught her daughter). My lawyer in the UK is blind and uses that to his advantage as he has a memory that'd impress a Cray 2! Geezer
That said the only thing funnier than a lawyer joke is a nun joke in this moderators opinion

The video is in German, but you get the picture without the understanding what is said. He was a lucky boy today

My workday consisted of filling selves with 7up products at various stores including three wal-marts. And answering stupid questions.
By the way, anyone who says that "There is no such thing as a stupid question" has obviously never worked in retail.
Thank god for my other job! Tomorrow I will most likely replace an exhaust gasket on a Piper Cherokee 180 if it has not been done already. After that, who knows? We have a Cub and at least one Champ due for anuuals here soon, I might get to see one of them or both.

Jake, just read through the thread again. Is it such a wise thing to do, tell the WWW that you are or that are going to be working on what is effectively an industrial secret. You never know who could read that and try get advantage or what websites and blogs that your employer keeps an eye on. Just a though

Maybe they should change the spelling to Owdi.
If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

At the deli counter I asked for half a pound; the girl weighing the slices turned to another and asked if half a pound was fifty (I held my tongue and let the coworker answer yes but, of course, it's 0.50 on the digital readout).

Although declassified well over a decade ago, there is still operational data that I do not reveal on equipment to which I was assigned even though none of it was the reason for the secret classification. In fact, a civilian told me something later that was pertinent for the classification; it didn't click, however, until a foreign officer made a certain statement on History Channel's
Dogfights
a few years ago.

I think it's safe to say that anybody who works has trade secrets, and anyone who works in the engineering side of things is related to secret projects.
It's the people who say they're not working on something secret who really are ones to watch out for

I get what you are saying, but pretty much anything any engineer works on would be considered 'secret'. As I said, we keep it to ourselves til it's public to avoid letting our competitors find out. No one will reprimand me for saying I work in advanced design, and no one is getting any details out of me. In a couple years if anything goes public, I'll probably let people know I worked on it, but that's it.
