Went through my hanger and rediscovered this workhorse I had downloaded years ago:
...

I can rememeber as a kid growing up in the 60's seeing formations of these flying over my house to and from the air national gaurd base at Chicago's O'Hare field.

...

The "Flying Boxcars" I rememeber had a blunter nose and were an overall grey. Also at the time Ideal Toys put out a boxcar that came complete with a jeep that you could "Air Drop" out the back.  Anyone know if there are any C119s  still flying?  Smiley

I remember the 'boxcars' well as a kid in the 60's. At that time my family resided in a little town called Wildwood, north of Chicago and just west of lake Michigan. They would do fairly low passes a couple of times a week. I always stopped and watched them fly past. Nostalgia supreme!

Cool aircraft.....it reminds me a little of a puffer fish for some reason Cool

"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth and danced the skies on laughter silvered wings. Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun split clouds.....and done a hundred things you have never dreamed of.....wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence. Hovering there, I've chased the shouting wind along and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air.

Up, up the long, delerious, burning blue I've topped the wind swept heights with easy grace where never Lark, nor even Eagle flew. While with silent lifting of mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand and touched the face of god"
