I hope Im in the right place to ask my total newby question, which is about loading aircraft into fsx with win 7, the downloading and unpacking is no problem, after following the various instructuions and placing the various files cerefully into the folders in fsx where they are needed, i find I can not get any of the several Harrier Jump Jets Ive downloaded ( all specificaly for fsx) and installed to run as one would hope they would, further more, befor using them in free flight, each one of them shows up as a simple silver aircraft void of any coloring, even the tires are silver , Ive checked all the settings in fsx and can find absolutely nothing that will rectify this situation, its quite obviously my installations are causing the problem, so if any of you tech,s out there can maybe give me some idea,s then I would be one hell of a happy camper, TIA for replies

It sounds almost like you're missing your texture files. Make sure the Harrier aircraft has the "texture" folder, along with the "model", "panel" and "sound" folders, and the aircraft.cfg and "air" file.

This can also happen when direct x 10 preview is enabled with certain aircraft!

FSX, we've come a long way baby! Skunk Works is an official alias for Lockheed Martin’s Advanced Development Programs (ADP), formerly called Lockheed Advanced Development Projects. Skunk Works is responsible for a number of famous aircraft designs, including the U-2, the SR-71 Blackbird, the F-117 Nighthawk, and the F-22 Raptor. Its largest current project is the F-35 Lightning II

This problem affects some FS9 aircraft in FSX on Vista/Win7. The only Harrier I can find in the FSX download section is the 'updated' IRIS FS9 model. Try Skunkworks' suggestion & disable DirectX 10 Preview from FSX Display settings.

People, I am delighted to thank you all for the swift replies to my "silver" problem, the Direct X was seemingly the problem, all three aircraft although a little "flat" are now grey and show thier respective markings, I will finnish my gratitude with a further question, " wgere can I get the fs9 download that has been recommended in the post"? thanks again to all

Not sure what you mean. If it's the ex-payware IRIS Harrier I mentioned I suspect you already have it. http://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=harrier&categoryId=54
