Good afternoon all... Smiley

FSX & Vista
HDE Clouds
Aircraft:  Cessna O-1D Bird Dog....United States Air Force
Location: At and over Independence "207" California..USA
Wonderful Freeware Death Valley Scenery by OZX
Mostly all Freeware right here at Simviation... Wink

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_Valley

As the clouds start to settle in...Death Valley becomes deadly quiet and the sun starts to go down behind the mountains...
Then...then the sound of rolling thunder is heard....no it is not a gaggle of Locheed C130 Hercs or a flock of Boeing C17s...it is a real aeroplane...an airforce O-1D Bird Dog and the bugsmasher driver is up just before sunset to do some touch and goes...Death Valley comes alive to the sound of rolling thunder from a bugsmasher.... Grin

Clouds settling in...Shots one and two...engine start...
...

...

Bugsmasher making her own cloud... Grin
...

Always a good idea to get up before the sun sets completely to get the eyes adjusted to some night takeoffs and landings...runways can be seen above and below the aircraft...
...

Shadows from the mountains/hills will add to the night flying atmosphere turning Death Valley into an entire different landscape than what you saw earlier making night VFR flying even more interesting...but the sound of rolling thunder from the mighty little bugsmasher will keep Death Valley very much awake... Smiley
...

Again thanks Chuck helping me finding the military livery for this wonderful aircraft and pointing me in the right direction for the scenery... Wink

Comments and Advice most welcome... Wink

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

Very nice Doug. Smiley

I apologize, that is the model I intended to give you a link to, but got crossed up with my files. Glad you got it all working.

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

Thanks Larry...no problem at all... Smiley

In the above first three shots I tried to get the clouds to be more like the clouds in the Link, partway down or at the top of the mountains...I played with the setting so much and I kept losing what daylight I had.

I think that is why the clouds look so low... Smiley

You're welcome Doug....awesome shots Cool

"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth and danced the skies on laughter silvered wings. Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun split clouds.....and done a hundred things you have never dreamed of.....wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence. Hovering there, I've chased the shouting wind along and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air.

Up, up the long, delerious, burning blue I've topped the wind swept heights with easy grace where never Lark, nor even Eagle flew. While with silent lifting of mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand and touched the face of god"

Very nice set of pics Doug! I'm always riveted by your descriptive narrative too. It's like really being there!  Smiley

FSX, we've come a long way baby! Skunk Works is an official alias for Lockheed Martin’s Advanced Development Programs (ADP), formerly called Lockheed Advanced Development Projects. Skunk Works is responsible for a number of famous aircraft designs, including the U-2, the SR-71 Blackbird, the F-117 Nighthawk, and the F-22 Raptor. Its largest current project is the F-35 Lightning II
