Later I updated the drivers & installed the Logitech profiler software.

One great thing I've noticed about Win7; is that it contains virtually every generic driver you could ever need. This makes loading the OS a breeze!

The retail price of this unit is $480. (not including Win7)  I found several components on sale so my cost was $420 + tax.

Win7 rates this system @ 7.2 or 7.3 (out of 7.9) 

It's performance is INCREDIBLE!  2+ years ago I had to stop work on Vietnam-4-CFS2 due to intolerably low frame-rates (8-12 FPS) - now the same scenery displays in the 120-250 FPS range with the Image Quality MAXED!  HOLY CRAP!!! 

Tested FS9 @ 60FPS & FSX at a solid 20FPS - both with the Image Quality set at Ultra High

The problem is that XP will limit the system and only allow you to use 3GB of RAM (4GB MAX. if you tweak it)

4+ GB of RAM works fine in Vista/Win7 32 & 64Bit - the only limit is the max. amount of RAM your motherboard will support.

I cannot give you a definitive answer in regard to framerate differences in 32bit vs. 64bit as I have not tested this.

However if you consider that a 32bit o/s is like having your data driving down a 32 lane highway ... and a 64 bit o/s has 64 lanes; then you'd have twice the data volume. Theoretically; I would speculate the 64bit o/s should provide better framerates over the 32bit o/s.

I have been using Win7 for about 8 months. Last Nov. I picked up an old eMachine PC (produced in 2006).   It had XP Media Center (32bit) & had run very poorly over the previous 6 years. (slow & glitchy)  I loaded Win7 Ultimate 32bit and the PC ran: "smooth as glass". 

A couple of months later I realized I could run Win7 64bit on it (DUH!) ... once loaded: it ran even BETTER!  I noticed the average CPU usage dropped about 4% and RAM usage increased by approx. 7%.

The bottom line is that the 64bit o/s is much more capable and 32bit has become obsolete as has WinXP.
