Hi Sean... Smiley

I knew the chap but did not see the accident.

The pilot was landing his bugsmasher on floats, it was not amphibious to fuel up we think.

The bugsmasher (think it was a cub but not sure now) dipped a wing flipping the aircraft.
The pilot was knocked unconscious and drowned when the aircraft sank.

There were no boats nearby, that was quite a few years ago now.

#4 and 5 clearly show the wheels down. Amazing on the spot photos though.  Wink

( It's one of those 'dammit' moments. )

So do 1 and 2.   I wonder if that 'prompted' the photographer?  "Hand me the camera quick! Doofus has the wheels down!!!"

The moral of this sad tale: if you're going to do something really stupid with an airplane, an Otter is a good choice. These water "endos" are often fatal...  Undecided

The moral of the tale is, if you are going to cock it up, then just how big a cockup it is, is in direct proportion to the amount of people watching you............ Grin
