There I was, peacefully smashing bugs along a river, when suddenly, some Damn Dam jumps out if front of me...

Hoover Dam. I got to drive across it three times in an 18-wheeler before it was closed in September 2001. But the new bridge is up and open now, as of October 2010. And what a magnificent bridge it is. It's high enough and far away enough from old Hoover that the dam is enjoying a renaissance as a tourist attraction.
