You are still not helping.  Roll Eyes  Grin
Mine is 120 GB. SimObjects alone is 48 GB.

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

I have a second install/copy of FSX. The purpose was to keep one totally freeware only, while the other would be my payware sim.

Turns out, it was more trouble than it was worth and if I ever finish the preparation, and find the intestinal fortitude, I am going to ditch it and just have one copy.

Larry. I don't know exactly how you're going to approach this. I recently transferred FSX from my faulty E: drive to an external USB drive before replacing the HDD. I then transferred a copy onto the new E: drive. This took a while but all works as advertised. With your large FSX directory this could be done in stages instead of all at once.

Alternatively, the quickest way to back up a folder is to rename it. Even with a huge folder like your FSX directory this should only take a few seconds. You can then transfer the addons to the active version of FSX at your leisure.

For the payware I assume you still have the original installation disks or files. I think re-installing them might be the best way over that one.

Thanks Doug, you are correct. Smiley

I've been copying aircraft over, a few gigs at at time. I'm just nervous about using the correct procedure for each payware item, as they are not all the same. Some will require me to uninstall them,

while others, like FTX say just delete the folder and then re-install. But it needs to be done and will take me a while. I'm just going to go real slow and triple check everything before doing anything.

One other thing that worries me, is that some auto-installers would not allow me to direct them to D:\Payware FSX so I had to install into D:\FSX and then copy over. And I don't remember which ones.

I can't just look in D:\FSX to see which ones are there because there are a few that I installed to D:\Payware FSX that showed up in D:\FSX anyway.

It's just too complicated for my feeble brain to comprehend.  Undecided Grin

Oh yeah, if I ever mention doing a copy/duplicate install again, somebody shoot me and put me out of my misery. Roll Eyes  Grin
