Although I install aircraft into CFS2 they appear in the file OK but, apart from one or two exceptions do not appear when selected for Free Flight etc. The few aircraft that do appear are Alpha Sim. All the rest do not show. I am using Windows 7 and the simulator works OK, but I would like a change from the default aircraft. Any help would be welcome. Huh

The most common reason for addon aircraft not appearing in Freeflight is the SOUND folder.

Please refer to Reply 6 in the Common CFS2 Problems & Solutions thread:
http://205.252.250.26/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1295360992/0#0

1.  Check to make sure that there is a SOUND folder in the aircraft folder.

2.  Check to see if a sound.cfg file and .wav files are present OR that the sound.cfg file is aliased to an aircraft that is present in your AIRCRAFT folder.

3.  A much simpler approach is to delete the current SOUND folder for the aircraft in question and replace it with the SOUND folder from the A6M_2.  Wink

Same for jet engine sound, I downloaded a Heinkel 162 and a Me-262 but the Heinkel wouldn't work, so I copied the 262 sound file into it and it now works fine.

ahhh Jets. got to love them.

you need the file for the LEAR45.

http://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=cfs2+lear+sound

place it in your aircraft folder

oh and here is what else you will have to do for your jet

I'll kick it off with the issue of 'Exploding Jets', which seems relevant at a time when more and more jet aircraft are being flown in CFS2.

ISSUE: So you're flying your flashy new jet fighter and when you pull a tight turn the plane explodes.   Cry  What happened?   Sad

ANSWER A quote from Fox Four's Korea:  Wink

IMPORTANT CAUTION: In Korea, you have entered the very different world of jet combat, where speed and G-forces become critical factors and structural failure a real concern. It is important to understand that CFS2 was created for prop aircraft and, simply stated, the sim's performance parameters are not broad enough to cope reliably with all aspects of jet performance. The primary drawback is known as "Exploding Jets", which is catastrophic structural failure that causes your aircraft to self-destruct in mid-air.

THIS CAN BE EASILY AVOIDED BY MAKING THE FOLLOWING CHANGE IN YOUR CFS2.CFG FILE:

Open the CFS2.CFG file (Main CFS2 directory) in Notepad.
Scroll down to the [REALISM] section & change the StressDamage=True entry to StressDamage=False
Exit Notepad saving changes. That's it. No more Exploding Jets.
