Well, it’s been a while since I've spent any time working on this project.  Still trying to clean up a few areas before releasing the new models and now 12 paint jobs.
One problem has been the long canopy as adopted from the BD-5J (the BD-5J was the inspiration for this aircraft).  The swift’s instrument panel is so much higher that the pilot can’t see out the forward part of the canopy making its length pointless.  That extra glass also adds weight, and structural penalties for pressurized flight.  Therefore I have been meaning to redesign the canopy.  Also from an aesthetic point of view, the former canopies sharp corners didn’t suit the flowing lines of this bird.  At least that is how I see it.  So here are a bunch of shots with the new shorter, softer lines, canopy.

Design, build, paint and fly your own plane...too much talent  Smiley  Cool

FSX, we've come a long way baby! Skunk Works is an official alias for Lockheed Martin’s Advanced Development Programs (ADP), formerly called Lockheed Advanced Development Projects. Skunk Works is responsible for a number of famous aircraft designs, including the U-2, the SR-71 Blackbird, the F-117 Nighthawk, and the F-22 Raptor. Its largest current project is the F-35 Lightning II

Very cool....so many variations. Well done Mr. Dickert Cool

"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth and danced the skies on laughter silvered wings. Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun split clouds.....and done a hundred things you have never dreamed of.....wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence. Hovering there, I've chased the shouting wind along and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air.

Up, up the long, delerious, burning blue I've topped the wind swept heights with easy grace where never Lark, nor even Eagle flew. While with silent lifting of mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand and touched the face of god"

Hey U4EA
The sad story of the Valkryet...
The file is corrupt.  Every time I work on the fuselage, GMax crashes.  That aircraft will have to be started all over again from scratch.  But I don't know when I'll start over since the flight dynamics file also has a problem.  The simulation breaks down and the aircraft accelerates out of control once I hit Mach 3 with that thing.  It's like all the fuel gets dumped into the engines at once, it accelerates to Mach 4.65 and there is NO slowing down even with idle thrust.
Now if you want to fly it as is, I could email it to you.  Missing all kinds of parts but even so, it's still a wild ride.

Sorry to hear all that Harold.  Reckon I'll just stick with the Swift for the time being.  I like the new paints and accessories. (the external tanks!)

The FedEx paint makes me chuckle.......as "accessorized" as the pilot is, I'd love a delivery like that! Cool

Maybe someday the Valkryet can be 'ressurected'.  I'll take a pass on the "as-is" version.

Although a Mach 4 idle would be sorta interestin'! Cheesy

Harold, if you wanted to try something to get your model back in gmax, you could...

Get ModelConverter X, import the MDL, export it as a .3ds file, and import it to gmax. You'd loose animations and material settings, but the texture mapping should be the same. Couldn't hurt to give it a try.
