   Hey Guys!

All of my FSX AI traffic disappeared completely and suddenly yesterday afternoon. I bought two new aircraft yesterday morning. I installed both aircraft successfully and without problems. Then I "cleaned up" the aircraft.cfgs like I do with all  aircraft.cfgs.

Then I flew one of my usual aircraft to get set for my new more powerful aircraft. The "flight", scenery and AI traffic were all fine, as usual. Then I "flew" the first new aircraft and everything went fine, including the AI traffic. Then I noticed soon into the "flight" with my second new aircraft that all AI traffic was non-existent. I right clicked the screen and the usual "AI Traffic List" was not listed, no radio calls, etc. I didn't change or fiddle with anything between the "flights" - I just jumped from one plane into another.

This afternoon I tried using a bgl converter to make sure that the traffic bgls didn't get set FS9 format (?) somehow, and it turns out that nothing was wrong with bgls as far as the converter was concerned. - they are all set to FSX format. I also tried deleting the FSX.CGF file and let it rebuild itself. It did, but still no AI traffic...

Has anyone dealt with this problem before? Any known solutions (besides un/reistall FSX)? Thanks for any advice or help...

Semper Fi,

Dave

That is wierd that it would happened in 1 FS session (no scenery library update). Does ai re-appear if you fly a different ac?

Though I've never had or heard of this specific problem, here are a few thoughts.

Did you check your ai sliders?

Did either of the ac install scenery (that may have included ai traffic files)? If so, you might want to check your entire FSX directory (or remote scenery folders) for FS9 traffic files. AI Flight Planner can do that. http://members.shaw.ca/aifp/

Have you tried un-installing the 'problem' ac?

Out of curiosity, what are the 2 payware aircraft?

   Hey Dave!

I checked on the things you suggested, but still no dice...

I checked the sliders last week and tweaked the sound a bit. While I was there and thinking about it, I checked everything, and it was all fine. My pc can handle having all of the sliders set to 100%. I also keep everything on 100% realism also. That was the first place I checked after the "no AI flight", but everything was still set to full blast.

I also tried a "flight" in the default Cessna 172 Skyhawk with same results. The plane "flew" fine and the scenery looked great, but again, no AI.

I bought the Carenado Beechcraft V 35 B Bonanza and the Eaglesoft Piper PA 30 Twin Comanche. Both are billed and serviced through Flight 1, which I have always been pleased with. I now own 12 Carenado aircraft and 5 Eaglesoft aircraft. I'm also planning on buying the Columbia 400 from Eaglesoft when I get this sorted out.

The only two things I can think of trying, is to set the scenery a bit lower and see if the AI traffic appears again. The other idea is load My Traffic X and Traffic (with FSX update patch). Both of those programs have worked great in the past. I uninstalled them about 8 months ago when I finally learned how to write my own flight plans and manipulate existing plans. I have had only manipulated default plans for about three months now.

I'll try these two ideas out, and report back...

Ooooh Kaaay, I have good and "no" news...

The "no news" is that I still don't see any of my original AI traffic.

The good news is that My Traffic X seems to have been successfully installed and is working fine.

Here's some more wierd stuff... After the initial "no AI traffic" failure, I deleted just the FSX.CFG File (not the "text" file) and let FSX make a new file. The text file stayed intact afterwards and didn't seem to be a problem. Last night I tinkered around a bit more and I dicovered that the FSX.CFG text file had somehow rewritten itself in the last 36 hours without provacation of any sort ?!?! I figured it would have been rewritten immediately after the new FSX.CFG File was written - it seemed that the text file had a delayed reaction, err something. Anyway, I'll try removing both files from folder and see if FSX will rewrite both files. If not, I guess, yet another un/reinstall will be in order... I'll report back...

My guess is that one of the addons you installed recently included an FS9 traffic BGL file.  This (once loaded) will inactivate all of your other FSX traffic files.

Hope this helps,

Yeah, I think your right. I'm not sure how or where a traffic BGL would be placed to cause such an occurance. I looked in all the places I know to look, and neither aircraft comes with an add on scenery like Real Air's Scout with Bear Gulch scenery. Both are designed specially for FSX use too...  No telling... I've un/reinstalled FSX. I'll reinstall the suspect aircraft and let you know what happens.

Upon un/reinstalling FSX I discovered that there should not be an FSX.CFG File and an FSX.CFG text document. That's been in my AppData/...FSX folder for quite awhile, so I don't think that was a real issue...
