If I may, I will play "devil's advocate" -

Many experienced simmers simply do not "trust" any form of an auto-installer.  Most of us have been bitten once too often by a poorly prepared auto-installer.

We much prefer to unzip or direct an auto-installer to a temporary folder first so we can check the addition out carefully (and read any instructions) before manually moving items where they should go.

And it does not take much extra effort to then add (activate) the scenery via the Scenery Library dialogue.

No offence, but I would question the value of an auto-installer.  IMHO simmers really need to learn the structure of scenery (and aircraft) installations rather than rely on an automatic installation.

Just my two cents worth.

I have to agree with Opa. If you're determined to do it leave the default files well alone. Forget trying to modify Scenery.cfg. If the scenery is configured properly it's simple enough to activate via the Scenery Library.

I have auditioned several hundred sceneries over the past few years and can count the number of auto-installers which actually edited the scenery.cfg on a couple of fingers. The vast majority of them do not attempt to do it.

That being said, you might inquire at the FSDeveloper site - someone there may be able to advise.

Hope that helps.
