  I just got back into the Sim after a long break.  I noticed none of the Lear 45 planes are showing up at all now.

  I have the Lear45 in the Airplanes folder, and I have all the files and .cfg files as well.  In addition the aircraft.cfg has all the plane names in there.  I still can't see any of the Lear45 planes anymore though(I remember they used to be there).

  I even aliased the sound and panel.cfg files too and that still didn't help.

  Anyone have any other suggestions as why my Lear planes are no longer showing up?

They're easy to miss if your looking for LEAR. Set Aircraft Manufacturer to Bombardier or Aircraft Type to Twin Engine Jet and see what you find.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.          Igor Sikorsky

Are you looking in the right place on the selection menu? The Lear 45 is listed under Bombardier as manufacturer.

The default Lear45 ahould have its own panel & sound files. The VC won't work if its aliased to another aircraft.

  Nope I've looked through every plane and filtered them out by Bombardier as well.  I tried to alias it to the Lear45 just to see if something I did awhile back over wrote the panel/sound cfg.  But still nothing seems to work.

  I do have a number of other planes and stuff I've downloaded overtime that do all show up, but I decided to get some new Lear ones yesterday and realized this issue.

  I may have to take out all user files for that plane type and see if any of Microsofts Lears will show up, if not, then I'm not sure what's causing this issue...

Check the aircraft.cfg files, [fltsim.x] sections of the planes you added. Look for for missing quote marks in the ui_XXXX= entries. I believe those missing quotes can upset the Select Aircraft listings.

These are correct examples from the default C172, with the proper quotes.

ui_manufacturer="Cessna"
ui_type="C172SP Skyhawk"
ui_variation=" White,Green"
ui_typerole="Single Engine Prop"
ui_createdby="Microsoft Corporation"

I'm having the same problem with the grumman goose.  I read on fix was supposed to be to copy your "airplane" folder to the desktop (supposedly to save any add-ons) and then run the "repair" from the fsx DVD.  Did it, still no Goose. (The "repair" did not remove any add-on aircraft, BTW)

Also, all the quotes are in the .cfg.

Just wondering Roy, did you rename the saved folder before running repair from the CD? Not that I could help out here, but I was interested in the thread.

No.  I copied the whole "Simobjects" folder to the desktop.

  Thank you, this was exactly what was causing it as the planes were missing the quotations for the manufacturer.  The 3 downloaded planes are not showing up still, but the Microsoft default ones are.  So I can now start figuring out the problem with the downloaded content.  At least now I know that the Lear 45 does work.  I may have to check all my other planes too as I may have other ones that I didn't even notice aren't showing up either...

Hi,

This is the default learjet entry from the aircraft.cfg file.

ui_manufacturer="Bombardier"
ui_type="Learjet 45"
ui_variation="Gold, Black"
ui_typerole="Twin Engine Jet"
ui_createdby="Microsoft Corporation"

If you look for it, it is not in the Bombardier folder but in Lear45.

\SimObjects\Airplanes\Lear45

Check you have selected 'Show all variations'

regards
Steve

  Thanks, it was the missing quotes though that was part of the issue and the 2nd part I found out was that the texture.cfg were missing from the downloaded planes as well and that was causing them to not display in the end.  Once I copied an existing texture.cfg into the 2 planes texture folders, they finally worked.

  Thanks again for all the help...
