I came here and created a profile with the sole intention of posting a question requesting if anyone knew where I could find an aircraft repainted to look like my school’s aircraft from Kent state aviation. While no one was able to provide any information on where to find a repaint or full aircraft the people who did reply seemed friendly enough so I decided to stick around….I even found people who were patient enough to deal with my barrage of questions when I decided I had to take matter into my own hands and repaint a default aircraft into Kent state colors. Even though it is an old FS2002 model I am still proud to say that it resides in the simviation downloads category to this day.

My time here has surpassed longer than any other forum, message board, etc and has seen me through numerous computer upgrades, variations of the simulator from FS5 through FSX, and even through several multiplayer events including the US Tour that I helped to lead that took members and I through flights in single engine aircraft to every country in the United States. I have seen weeks where I am able to spend 20+ hours in the simulator, as well as times where I wasn’t able to run the simulator for several weeks/months due to school and work constraints.
When I built my new pc around Christmas time I built it with the sole purpose of being able to get back into flight simulator again. And when I did I knew I wanted to create a package with a redesigned airport and repainted aircraft that resembled my old school. It was no surprise that when I had problems with repainting the aircraft I turned immediately to simviation again (after googling for simple answers!).

While people may come and go here, while life may take me on other journeys that may lead me astray for some time, while the atmosphere here doesn’t seem as friendly as when I first joined I am a member and plan to be a member unless forcefully removed by someone else….which I sincerely hope that I never get in a situation where I would be removed.
I want to take a moment and say thank you to the moderators and people who keep this little slice of online interaction up and running. I also want to thank everyone here for being such a friendly group to share the common interest of aviation real and simulated with.

Jared

P.S. I have modified my home airport 1G3 to include a total of 26 parking spaces (up from the original 4) and have repainted 30+ aircraft with N-numbers to resemble aircraft based at the same airport. At this time I am working on creating a realistic list of flight plans and hope to have a easy to install package ready for download in the next few months.

Good post, Jared... I joined a lot less ago (it's going to be about 3 years), but it's good to know that SimV is always there.

I haven't touched FS in more than a year. But still have my ole hard drive full of planes/scenery. FSing is VERY time consuming, but I guess this year I'll be able to fly a bit.

I really hope that, if Microsoft releases a new FS, they rebuild it with a new, more efficient engine. It sucks having to buy a $1000+ computer for FSX.

See you around.... Cool

Well, I got you beat by a few months. I don't post a hole lot on this board, I just like to lurk, I've been downloading planes from this site before it was called Simviation; any one remember when this site was called the strip? Around '98 or so.

Nice post Jared, I agree with the moderation comment, I've been a member on many internet forums, many not flight related but the one thing that's stuck out about the vast majority of them is the awful attitude of the mods, something which Simviation can pride itself on not having Smiley

And I just did some digging and found my old account that I lost with when I changed e-mail
