On start up of FS9, I am now getting the following message:

""Flight Simulator has detected potentially incompatible aircraft or software
File: FSSound.dll"

I have had FSSound.dll loaded in my FS9 main folder for years without any ill effects.    In fact, I understood that this .dll file was essential.

I am just accepting this software - again with no apparent ill effects.

Can anyone suggest why I am getting this message?

FSSound.dll is required by some older (FS2000) aircraft.

Did you recently rebuild  FS9.cfg? If so, it probably removed the following entry which disables the warning message(s) for old modules.

[OldModules]
FSSound.dll=1
