Very nice, great shots.......please tell me it's water landable
"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth and danced the skies on laughter silvered wings. Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun split clouds.....and done a hundred things you have never dreamed of.....wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence. Hovering there, I've chased the shouting wind along and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long, delerious, burning blue I've topped the wind swept heights with easy grace where never Lark, nor even Eagle flew. While with silent lifting of mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand and touched the face of god"

Is that a mini gun out the port side? Awesome Chinook!
FSX, we've come a long way baby! Skunk Works is an official alias for Lockheed Martin’s Advanced Development Programs (ADP), formerly called Lockheed Advanced Development Projects. Skunk Works is responsible for a number of famous aircraft designs, including the U-2, the SR-71 Blackbird, the F-117 Nighthawk, and the F-22 Raptor. Its largest current project is the F-35 Lightning II

Woah cool!! Nice Chinook! I always wondered how come no one had released a good one yet...
How's this helo flying? First impressions?
If anyone knows of good Russian choppers for FSX I'm all ears. I really wish Nemeth Bros. would redo their Mi 2 and Mi 8 for FSX... and also a Hind

Now that is cool Dave.
If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

Does it float, Dave?

Well crap......there must be a way of fiddling the Cfg. file to make it water landable though. I really would like this chopper....if anyone out there knows how to make aircraft float, please help

I know absolutely nothing about editing an air file Chuck, I don't even have a program that will open an air file. But I would think that adding whatever lines are needed for a float plane would do it. If you find out, let me know. There are some others that it would make interesting, even if they are not supposed to float.
If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

You can make anything float if you add the float entries to the Aircraft.cfg. [contact_points] section. I quickly modified an FS9 CH-47 to try it out. Use the default Goose Aircraft.cfg for reference.
http://www.simviation.com/phpupload/uploads/1297196999.jpg
These are my new Floats entries. Your point numbers & gear reference entries will obviously be different. I copied the fixed gear entries & set the vertical height 1 foot higher.
; FLOATS

I can't make it work.......do I add these lines, or do they replace existing ones?
I added the lines and changed the point numbers. I think that the gear references are already correct.
It still sinks......the back end maybe is trying to float a little

Mail me the original Aircraft.cfg & I'll have a peek at it.
I obviously can't try it without purchasing the aircraft.

Sent. Thanks Hagar!
Also thank you Dave for the heads up on the chopper in the first place

It floats.....thanks to Hagar...and a little contact points tweaking by me (Hagar did not have the model to test on) and voila........ship shape, like it should have been in the first place

Here is what your contact points section in the Aircraft Cfg. file should look like to make tha MH-47 float:
EDIT
These are fixed, I accidently posted the original coordinates before. These will work
[contact_points]
static_pitch = 1.5
static_cg_height = 6.7
tailwheel_lock = 0
gear_system_type = 1
max_number_of_points = 13
point.0 = 1, -16, 0, -6, 4500, 0, 0.95, 30, 0.38, 1.8, 0.5, 0, 0, 0, 0, 300
point.1 = 1, 11, 4.65, -6.7, 3500, 2, 0.75, 0, 0.38, 1.26, 0.5, 0, 0, 3, 0, 300
point.2 = 1, 11, -4.65, -6.7, 3500, 1, 0.75, 0, 0.38, 1.26, 0.5, 0, 0, 2, 0, 300
point.3 = 3, -16, 5.3, -6, 4500, 2, 0.95, 0, 0.38, 1.8, 0.5, 0, 0, 3, 0, 300

point.5 = 2, 0, 25.5, 12, 4500, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 5, 0, 0
point.6 = 2, 0, -25.5, 12, 4500, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 6, 0, 0
point.7 = 2, 26.0722, 0, -0.9365, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 1, 1, 4, 0, 0
point.8 = 2, -26.013, 0, 2.7463, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 9, 0, 0
; FLOATS
point.9= 4, 11, 6.65, -7.7, 2500, 0, 0, 0.50, 2.5, 0.70, 0, 0, 5, 0.000, 0.000

point.11= 4, -16, 7.3, -7, 2500, 0, 0, 0.50, 2.5, 0.70, 0, 0, 5, 0.000, 0.000
point.12= 4, -16, -7.3, -7, 2500, 0, 0, 0.50, 2.5, 0.70, 0, 0, 5, 0.000, 0.000
Sorry about that.......I have uploaded a mod here at SimV that is just a drop in replacement Cfg file.....awaiting approval
With a little fiddlin' of the coordinates, this could be applied to any aircraft
