Sad to see such a ship go, but needs must... There's no money, and unless you're doing a job right now, then as we've seen (Nimrod, Harrier etc), you're very vulnerable.

Nice photos. There was no cafe up there the last time I visited.

Shame about the Ark. I wonder what will take her place as flagship.

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

I live in Portsmouth and we thought we'd go into Gunwarf because the Ark Royal was open to the public for the weekend , but the thing is that the queue went from underneath me to the ship Shocked so we went to the pub instead Grin

WOW! I visited Portsmouth maybe 15 years ago, and Spinnaker Tower wasn't there!  Cheesy Pretty cool view from up there!

Awesome shots...I must get across the pond sometime in the near future while I still can... Smiley

I thought the Royal Navy was building two (2) new large carriers?
There was a thread before Christmas about that here at Simviation.

What is the name of that tall ship and she looks like she could still be coal fired as well... Smiley

Yep, Queen Elizabeth and Prince of Wales, which, all being well will have F-35C. Smiley
