I've just uploaded the 'phantom sub' created by Larry Brown, AKA Oldwheat, during some research on the possibilities of using subs in CFS2.  While I have created submerged versions of my complete submarines (with only periscopes visible) for use in sub hunts, Larry's 'phantom sub' is unique as it appears in CFS2 only as a shadow on the water with a very, very faint wake...though it does appear on 'radar' as a target. (Larry never published his sub, because he was disappointed that he could not make it impervious to surface weapons, while being vulnerable to depth charges.)  I'm posting it on his behalf because it is a useful ship in Mission Builder, and a unique design idea that deserves recognition.  It should be up for download tomorrow.  Smiley

Just a thought, but wouldn't setting the damage tollerance ridiculously high and providing a specially and suitably modified depth charge solve the problem of being vulnerable to surface weapons?

Cheesy YOU GOT THE BRASS RING...I suspect that you are absolutely correct with your suggestion.  In fact, with a large enough number of life points, you wouldn't even need the special depth charge.  Smiley

Oldwheat was working on the theory that damage boxes placed below the surface would be invulnerable to at least gunfire and perhaps bombs.  When it proved untrue, he ceased experimentation.
