I've just uploaded a means to create a full-scale nuclear blast in CFS2. The concept was developed by Bismarck13 during a joint project we were working on a couple of years ago. It has never been released, but with all of the new nukes being developed, it seems a good time to do so, It should be available for download tomorrow. Cheesy

Unfortunately, I left a needed FX file out of the FullscaleNuke.ZIP just posted. Embarrassed

The missing file (fx_gndexpl_l2.fx) has now been uploaded and hopefully will be available for download shortly. Undecided

Gotta a question:

Does this explosion effect replace the stock CFS2: "large ground expl" (as in the "Manhattan Project" of several years ago) or is it a separate explosion effect?

Judging by the filename, it would appear to be separate.

CFS2 Fulfills my need to "peacefully" blow things up

All fixed now. The download ZIP has been replaced with a corrected one. Roll Eyes

If you downloaded the FullscaleNuke.ZIP, you did not get the needed FX file. If you downloaded FullscaleNuke-1.ZIP, or you download it now, you got/get all the files you need.

Sorry for the confusion, but sometimes I just have too many irons in the fire. Grin

There is no change or replacement of any stock file when using this system. The fx_gndexpl_l2.fx is a separate file from the stock stuff, but the blast does not depend on this FX file solely. The secret to it's success is in the BGL file, and in no way resembles The Manhatten Project that I can see. Cheesy

The motivation behind this system being developed was the lack of scale and duration on any of the previously existing nuke effects. Wink

The blast lasts several minutes from start to finish. These shots (taken during the original tests years ago) show the general (though not complete) sequence. The one thing that was not captured in these shots is the huge initial shock wave, but is clearly seen in Dirt's shot above. Cheesy
