Relooking at number three - what's that screen shaped device on the right wing - forget your laptop?  Smiley.

Oh, there it is Shocked
That's worse than leaving your coffee on the roof of the car Wink
Actually, it's a speedbrake. The E model doesn't use the same spoiler configuration as previous models.
These square spoilers, the rudders, and the elevator all coordinate to slow the jet.

"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth and danced the skies on laughter silvered wings. Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun split clouds.....and done a hundred things you have never dreamed of.....wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence. Hovering there, I've chased the shouting wind along and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air.

Up, up the long, delerious, burning blue I've topped the wind swept heights with easy grace where never Lark, nor even Eagle flew. While with silent lifting of mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand and touched the face of god"

First, nice screenies Chuck!

Second, thanx y'all for the weapons 'lesson'!!!  I had not made it that far along in the manual.

Some mention has been made of the "special effects" upon weapons impact.  I have no idea how, but I inadvertently stumbled across some, shall we say, interesting things in the "Combat In Afghanistan" scenery package.  Or it could be part of the SuperBug package itself.

I took off from Jalalabad and noticed what looks to be a missle frigate in a nearby lake with a small red loop floating above it.  As so:

It'll lock-up with anything AGM, then make it disappear in a large cloud and big badda-boom!  Shocked Cool Shocked

Found a few more of them red circle thingies in a bunch of different land-based areas and they take anything GBU in the same way.

I've been blowin' the crapola outta stuff for the last few days!!!! Cheesy

That is when I don't get target-fixation and become a bunch of small parts in the landscape! Cry

Thanx again y'all for the weapons lessons! Cool

i like the base paint on this craft EXCEPT for all the experimental / TEST stickers that someone put all over it.  that just makes it look ugly. sorry.   if someone removed all the black/white circles and stuck with the basic paint job on this, it would be a billion times better

Now that seems a bit unorthodox to me, using the flaps key. Why not the brakes, like several other designs, which has no affect on anything while airborne? With the inclusion of firing weapons on so many military models these days, it seems there is a need for a standardized key for guns. And where there is a switch to select bombs or rockets, the default drop object key would suffice. Both can be mapped to a particular button on a joystick.

The VRS model is so much more advanced than that.  That's basic flight sim stuff you are referring to.  VRS uses its own unique set of key assignments in addition to the traditional FS ones and goes way beyond anything that Aerosoft or Iris have done.

The VRS model is an F/A-18E simulator that uses FS9/FSX as a platform to exist inside of.

There is two models in each livery, a "line" and a "CAG", the test markers are not on the CAGs.

It is very elaborate........I spent several hours reading the manual and flying the tutorial flight.
You can have VOR and DME stations act as AAA and SAM sites and if you get too close you may have to out-maneuver a missile (assuming you didn't spot it on the radar, target it, and reduce it with a HARM missile before it has the chance to fire) Shocked
If you get hit you take damage (scalable damage using an aircraft configuration manager that also allows adjustment of almost every other aspect of the jet).
Air to air missiles can be used to target AI aircraft (also targets recorded aircraft from FSRecorder)
Very immersive...... Cool
