I know its a good game, but for a game that took 6 years to make, I would have expected much more than what they've done. Tracks as well.
This is my main cause of disappointment with it.
I still enjoy it and plan on beating it, but it seems that they shoved a ton of features into it, without ever polishing any of them properly.
Too many useless cars & not enough diverse tracks.
Some of the features you have to wonder why they even included, such as the Course maker, Rally & Nascar. Nice to have, but it's such a limited taste, and not really done with any justice.
Another bit that really bugs me is the
extremely tight time goals on most of the special events & licenses.
I used to be rather good at getting golds, but man you have to be some kind of driving god to get these.
I need a lot more practice than I think I should after having conquered it's four predecessors..
Graphics wise, the premium cars are the cat's ass, the rest (outside of photo mode) is shite, when compared to
many other games. You can tell the time was spent more on physics & premium cars than anything else. When you see the water textures at Monaco for the first time, you wonder if they lifted the textures from FS2002. Not what I was expecting, even for a background texture that gets no interaction.
The AI sucks, in
all respects.
(especially when it won't get out of the way of honking horn & flashing brights, and I'm clearly going much faster, and a mere shunt to the rear will disqualify me
)
Where in the hell are the brake system upgrades?
I'll trade both Daytona & Indy for the old Test course thank you.
Aside from all of this, it's still a decent game, just not six years worth of waiting & hype good.
