The  Boeing Stearman Model 75

is a biplane used as a military trainer aircraft, of which at least 9,783 were built in the United States during the 1930s and 1940s. Stearman Aircraft became a subsidiary of Boeing in 1934. Widely known as the Stearman,

Boeing Stearman or Kaydet, it served as a primary trainer for the USAAF, as a basic trainer for the USN (as the NS & N2S), and with the RCAF as the Kaydet throughout World War II. After the conflict was over, thousands

of surplus aircraft were sold on the civil market. In the immediate post-war years they became popular as crop dusters and as sports planes.

Now don't get me wrong, I love David Eckert's model for FS9. But the prop behind the clouds and gaps in the textures in FSX really bothers me. So, realizing I did not have a payware bi-plane, I went looking. And I found

what I think, is a really nice one. Meet the Golden Age Simulations Stearman. It comes with four very nice liveries, two with the 220 hp Continental R-670 air cooled 7-cylinder radial, one with the 300 hp Lycoming

R-680 9-cylinder, and one with a 450 hp Pratt & Whitney Wasp Jr. It also comes with bugcatcher field scenery at Stormville, NY, southeast of Poughkeepsie.

The 300 hp.

Thanks for looking.

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

It took me about a second and a half to get that. Why do you think I bought it? Roll Eyes

Thanks Doug. Smiley
Contrary to what Dave said, with liveries this nice, it may be a while before I repaint any of these. I will probably try to adapt my repaints of David Eckert's model to it first. Hmm, wonder if I can make the 220 hp unfaired model use the 450 hp engine? Roll Eyes  Cheesy

BTW, Golden Ages has several nice older aircraft. You might want to check them out.

Thanks Larry, most of what I saw was for FS2004 so not sure it will work in FSX.

That's true for the freeware, though some will probably work, but have the same prop behind the clouds problem. But the payware Stinson Jr., Stearman 75, and Boeing 40 are native FSX. The rest of the payware will work

in FSX, but might have the prop problem depending on your autogen settings.

I sent them an email earlier asking a couple of questions and also asked if they might make their Stinson Model A as a native FSX model.

The New Standard D25A freeware is for FS9 and FSX. I'm downloading it and several more now to try them. Will let you know the outcome.
