I've forgotton the correct avatar and sig size limits. I used to click on one of the links in the stickies above screenshots but they have been updated and upload images only defines size for large shots. I'm sure it is written somewhere here but after looking for 30 minutes couldn't find anything. I think I know what the sizes are but would rather be sure about it.

I think the limit for sigs is 30 kb and 10 for avatars (But don't quote me on that!).

Thanks, that's what I was thinking, but the pixel width?
Avatars were 100, I think. Don't remember sigs though.

If I recall correctly sigs can be up to the forum limit of 1024. But I don't like having mine that big because you have to scroll to see the right side of the picture.

I had the same problem Steve. Fortunately, I keep a copy of both and could check physical and file sizes.
I do think it needs to either be stated on the Upload Images page or on the User CP/Profile/Edit Profile page for new members that don't know and
old members that can't remember.
If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

Agreed Larry, I suppose it's one of those simple things that we should all remember. I had it written down somewhere and can't find that either. One sure fire way to find out fast is to put up something too large!

I resemble that statement.

If memory serves, and it is entirely possible that it does not, the Upload Images page used to tell the physical and file size limits of avatars and signatures. I have searched everywhere I can think of and can not find the
information anywhere. I think the best place, would be on the User CP profile page, but that is just my opinion. I just think it would be a good idea to have the information available to new members, before they create an
avatar or signature.

I think there was a sticky that also had it written along with a pixel size suggestion. Allthough 600 wide seems to fill in the sig without scrolling to see it.

Very good point - this has now been added to the images upload page.
Let me know if it is clear and correct.
Thanks

That's fine but what about the max pixel width for normal images - screenshots & photos. It used to be 1024.

Done. It is easy to end up with so much info there that it puts people off reading it all .......
