Hi guys,
Last night, the WA Symphony Orchestra did its annual Symphony in the City, and 20,000 people rocked up. Played some favourites, and also some obscure pieces. The Finale was of course the 1812 Overture. Accompanied by 4 cannons of the 7th Field Battery of The Royal Australian Army Reserve Artillery, and also the Swan Bell Tower, which was also celebrating its 10th anniversary. Hope you enjoy. Compression always kills my shots. sigh.
Looking down the business end of the barrel
The bell tower in the distance over the 4 cannons
The cannons were open to the public for 2hrs prior to the show. The city skyline in the background
The cannons firing during the 1812 Overture

I like #3. Have you been playing with HDR or using a filter?

Great shots Glenn. The colors in #2 & #3 are awesome.
If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

There are three cannons mounted at the eastern end of the Parade Deck on MCRD, these were the cannons we shot. It was for a Naval song, I don't remember which one, but it was a sunset concert set up for the Sec of Defense, they handed me a crate of blanks, and said "here, when I give you the signal, blast as many of these as you can."
And I said "yes sir"
Car alarms went off, we shattered several windows, and each shot lit the sky up like 4th of July. Naturally we had to call SDPD and CHP ahead of time and let them know the jarheads were going to be blowing stuff up that night

Damn, caught !.....I was going to leave it alone for as long as I could get away with it, after realizing my error...
I never did profess to being in synch with my operatic side.....
You are correct sir !
And to think I even have it on my MP3 player for when I go out riding on my bike.......

When I mention to the wife it's time to go to the dump (waste management facitity), she always gives me a few bars of 'To the dump, to the dump, to the dump dump dump" - reminds me of Clayton and Jay.
