Well I hope there is one as it looks like we will have 4 black and gold cars running the lotus name next year.

The official plural is, somewhat boringly, "Lotuses".

As for a collective noun?... Grin

I do like that picture of the new Lotus Renault. Smiley

You know, at first, you think "what", but actually, they work...

I reckon if Team Lotus aren't happy about the black/gold clash, they should go red/gold/white, of Gold Leaf, the pre JPS scheme. Smiley

I wish they'd stick with gold and green of last season. Looks so good.

I wouldn't mind seeing both at once next year, it would make them easier to keep track of, the Red Bulls & Torro Rosso cars really messed with me at times.  Tongue

I can almost see a guy named Mario cruising around in one of those.  Cool

There is talk of Mclaren returning to a red/white scheme in the future to, what with their association with Mercedes having been reduced and their association with Santander and Vodaphone increasing, both of which use a red/white scheme.

BBC reporting the the ever innovative Mike Gascoyne has conducted a poll by some means or another, with green and gold winning with 77%, so I suspect we may see that on Team Lotus in 2011. Smiley

I like the black and gold, but the team are forgetting I think that it was brought about because of a sponsor. As such they are pretty much giving further advertisement to said sponsor.  It has little to do with the Lotus name itself. Where as the gold and the green does, add in there is little point in Gascoynes team trying to compete with renault, they just aren't on a simmilar level yet. Better to stand out in the crowd as a small team.

Interestingly, a quick wiki suggests John Player Special and its sister brands are still very popular in the Middle, Far East and South Asia. I wonder perhaps, just like Ferrari's subliminal Marlboro advertising, whether they have been "encouraged" to use the black on gold scheme by Imperial Tobacco?

Lot'a'sus  Grin

It reminds me more of a pint of Guinness than Lotus, but it still looks quite nice.

You must've been born in the 90s or something! Grin Camel, JPS, Gold Leaf; all brands synonymous with Lotus in F1. Once Camel pulled out to go to Williams, the team rapidly went downhill to closure.

The fact Renault have chosen the black and gold scheme is hardly surprising, as the other schemes are associated with Lotus when they were either Cosworth (GL) or Honda (Camel) powered.

Some famous racing driver next to his JPS Lotus - coincidentally a Renault
