Thank you all for the warm wishes. I was very pleased and proud that the Inkster Police Auxiliary were able to give him the full honor guard treatment just as he had hoped for. He was also able to have, at his request, a bagpiper to play Amazing Grace at his grave side service. (I felt really bad for that poor piper, as it was about 20 degrees F, with a wind chill of about 3 degrees! Shocked)

He was truly a wonderful person, and a great friend.

Groundbound - at a time like this a little humor may be a tonic.  As a Scot by birth, I'm well aware that a true piper is 'out of uniform' if he's wearing anything under his kilt which make the conditions you describe even more excruciating.
