So far I think they just claimed that they we're taking a break... To Re-organise a sports event that grew way faster than anyone has anticipated. They'll be back bigger and stronger!   hopefully

It's been on the cards for a while. Safety's the big word, and surprisingly features quite a lot in the article. There's been a couple of near misses this year, and of course the death of competitor Alex McLean in an aerobatic accident in Spain.

It's been very good marketing for Red Bull, but a fatal or very serious incident wouldn't go down very well.

Last I had heard, and this was just after Windsor... which everyone should be well acquainted with, was that they were taking the next season off, which would be this season. They'd be discussing new stuff (whatever stuff is) and doing some re-training, how much of that is correct, I don't know, I'm just an avid fan like everyone else :0)

I suspect we may see a completely new format - there have been too many close calls with the current high speed and low level format (one crash, one water impact which was luckily recovered, several disqualifications for dangerous/low flying).
