I have been seduced by AlphaSim's beautiful freeware FS9 Meteor F3. And I've adapted her to CFS2. Use this link to download her:

She's sporting the original textures (616 or 42 Sqdrn), but has a new DP, CFG and AIR files. Besides being a great player aircraft, she'll dogfight beautifully as an AI/wingman, and sports an AIR file that has had the 'Warp Bug' vaccination.

Her sound file is aliased to the Lear45, which is not included in the download. I will upload that for those who need it...and it should be up tomorrow. Otherwise, it is already available in SimV CFS2 Utilities. (use this link):

The spoiler key (/) operates the airbrake, which you will need.

The F3, while certainly not as advanced aerodynamically as the F4 and F8, is by far the most beautiful, graceful and elegant of the bunch. (The clipped wings, oversized nacelles, elongated fuselage and squared off vertical stab sort of ruined her looks.) And she will be right at home going after those Me262s over late war Europe. (Of course the F3 will be followed by an F8 version.)

I'm working up the F8 version too, but it's a mess because the drop tanks and belly tank are permanent parts of the model file. Short of just alpha-ing them out, there's no room for DP-based tanks and payloads. So it may not be worth the effort to get this stubby-winged, whip-tailed airplane up and running properly in CFS2. LOL. Cry

I may need to call on Sopwith for some of his texture and alpha-channel magic. Tongue

Since the F3 is the only allied jet to see actual combat in WWII, I suppose I'll focus on her and tweak up a nicer DP/AIR combination with a 'slipper' belly tank and some rockets for ground attack. However, she looks swell flying lean and clean to have a go at the 262s. Grin

Can't seem to find the the cammo skin .. the "texture.616" folder is empty ... Shocked

I went ahead and uploaded the 616 Sqdrn textures for the F3 Smiley

, AND (heaven forgive me) the entire F8 package...in spite of her shortcomings with the fixed wing and belly tanks. She's just too nice an airplane to leave out of the CFS2 hangar. Smiley

It looks like the 616 texture upload last night got misplaced, as it did not showup in the downloads today, though the other files uploaded at the same time did. Cry
