Hopefully I'm in the correct forum.
I'm looking for information on aircraft stationed at Maxwell AFB, Montgomery AL, during the 1960s. Two evenings' searching has turned up a wealth of information on the early history of this base, and quite a bit of recent history; one history, which turns up repeatedly on many sites, has no mention of the base from 1947 to 1969; a chronology has only one entry for the span from 1954 to 1970 (and that merely mentions the establishment of a grammar school).
The base was used for bomber training (B-24, B-25, B-29) through WWII; post war there were C-47s and C-117s there (no data on exactly what years). There was a C-45H there in 1955 (restored and still flying); and at least one T-33 in 1959 (recently restored). From there til the modern era (C-130s) I can find no information on aircraft. In the fifties the Air War College was established there, and that dominates any articles concerning the sixties; but I grew up in the area and recall aircraft in the hangars, parked, and, if I was lucky, taking off and landing.

Did that two weeks ago. Still no reply. That's when I went snooping around the net.

FTR, nearly two months later I hear from MAFB:
"I'm sorry I don't know the answer to your question off the top of my head, but I'd recommend you try calling our History Office at (xxx) xxx-5262 or (xxx) xxx-4530. I tried calling them a moment ago, but couldn't reach anyone. You could try calling Monday morning or later today, if you'd like.
If you don't have any success reaching them, please let us know. Many base personnel may be on leave right now, due to the holidays.
Hope this helps. Have a great weekend!"
