Every year this happens, and nothing is done about it.

Less well publicised is the fact that Bridgestone, Sauber and Ferrari personnel were actually robbed by the gang around the same time.

This happens every year here, there is always at least one group who are robbed on the way home, although these attacks are a step up on previous attacks.

Petty theft is also very common. Some Force India mechanics placed their bags in the boot of their car outside our hotel on Thursday and a gang ran out and stole them while they waited for a colleague.

If someone came to me and said, here is a free trip to any gp in the world, all expenses covered, I'd instantly think, Brazil. First place everytime, then I'd go to spa, or singapore, or abu dhabi. Why? because you couldn't relax and enjoy the Brazilian gp. Take your camera/phone/money, you get robbed. leave them at the hotel, they get robbed. Either way your gonna get robbed.  Roll Eyes

Found this on another website  Grin

Quote:
"After Mclaren's Jenson Button was almost held up - in a city with a notorious record of street robbery and violence, other F1 teams were quick to follow suit. Swiss based Sauber reported that three employees, not drivers, were also held up at gunpoint. Being from Switzerland they did not know what a street robbery was. Red Bull Boffins are already at work developing their own Sau Paulo street robbery story whilst the lesser funded teams are working on cheaper alternative pickpocketing and taxi rip-off story developments. It is believed that Ferrari are not developing any street crime stories of their own, but are in fact working hard lobbying the FIA to declare street robbery legal."
