Goodly morning all... Smiley

Hope those that needed to remembered to set their clocks back one hour prior to going to bed last night... Smiley

Clocks Fall Back one hour in the Fall/Autumn
and
Clocks Spring Ahead one hour in the Spring

Yesterday was the first day we saw folks having to scrape ice off their vehicle windshields.

I can see frost on the docks and roof of many buildings right now.

This morning there is a beautiful red sunrise and the river and bay look like one sheet of glass that you could walk out on.
The red sunrise makes the boats and the water look awesome.

Several yellow and red Search and Rescue Helicopters were out over the bay exercising their skills just prior to sunrise and when the red sunrise started to reflect on them they were awesome in colour.

After church the old girl and I are going to the old homestead for Sunday Dinner and will probably do a local flight with family, few touch and goes and hopefully stop at one of the local bugsmasher fields to chew the rag.   Grin

As for Aviation News goes this week in the local paper a lady wrote in and complained about the night flying at the Military Base. Said it was very disturbing and she could not sleep and wanted the military to quit flying at night and on Sundays... Roll Eyes     Tongue

She just bought the house this year and the Military Base has been here since 1930.   Lips Sealed

All I can say is... Tongue

My "Foxclocks" add-on, at the bottom of my Firefox Browser, keeps me accurately up-to-date with the various Time Zones around the World:
...including...
USA:
Eastern Standard Time.
Central Time.
Mountain Time.
Pacific Time.

Vital knowledge for we on-line Multiplayers!

I was adding to my above post while you were doing a reply I think... Smiley

Anyone that does a lot of travelling by land, sea or air need to be aware of the different Time Zones.  I guess it is just comes natural for us as I was flying all the time and to call home to talk to the children and the old girl before they went off to bed it was important to know the time difference.

You brought up a good point I never even considered about on-line Multiplayers.
I never even thought about that, I don't do it so it completely slipped my mind.

It must be a bit time consuming planning a multiplayer flight if folks are from one or more of the seven different continents.

I think ninety per-cent of the time I use FSX for Instrument Training and the times that I do a flight I keep in mind the time zones as I plan the flight like it was an actual flight.
There are times I get the FSX bugsmashers out and I don't worry about the time changes as I seldom stray far from the cabbage patch... Grin

Hello Doug...

Fortunately for we "Britanians" on this side of the Pond, we all reside in the same Time Zone...(good-old Greenwich Mean Time!). so we have no problems conversing with each other...
...but for you Blokes on the other side of the Pond it must be a nightmare, especially when the person you are contacting is on the other side of the Town/Road...in a completely different Time Zone!
How you cope with it, always amazes me!

For we Multiplayer enthusiasts, when the organiser from the USA (Sean) states the time of the flight (his time), I compare it to both our times, in real time, on my Foxclocks at the bottom of my Firefox Browser (GMT and EST).

As I know very little about this Multiplayer Flying I have a question or two if you don't mind... Smiley

Sean who is in the United States set's the Flight Time and Locations I suppose.

Now we have members in South Africa and Australia amongst many others.  Here in Canada we have three or four members in different time zones than myself.

If Sean planned a flight with four aircraft, you, Sean, South Africa and Australia would you all chat first to come up with a compromise for the time differences?

I would think someone would have to be up through out the night to do this Multiplayer Flight if they wanted to join the flight.

I also have to ask can someone join the flight part way through to compensate for the time differences?

It seems like an interesting concept for an avid flight simulation person and probably makes a wonderful past time and hobby.
I am sure it would be educational.   Smiley

Would there be a Flight Briefing and Flight Debriefing as well?

Hello Doug...

When Sean organises a flight he is generally aware of who is most likely to show up, so he generally picks a time, (Afternoon for him), which he knows will occur in the Evening for us on this side of the Pond, and will also suit any Pilots in the USA.
For Folks In Australia/New Zealand who wish to join it would occur quite early in the Morning.
For a USA flight in the Evening, it would mean us over this side staying up until 1/2 AM in the middle of the night...not a good idea for me!... Grin...!
As an example: A Sean flight at around 2 PM in the Afternoon EST, would mean us turning up at around 8 PM in the Evening...excellent... Kiss...!
If I organised a flight for 8 PM in the Evening over here, Sean would have to keep awake ''till 2-3 AM in the middle of the night!...bad idea... Grin...!
We Multiplayers have to be constantly aware of each others Time Zones for the system to work smoothly... Grin...!

...which is when my; "Foxclocks" in my Browser comes in very handy!...(try re-arranging that statement @H)... Grin.. Grin...!

GMT v Eastern/Central/Mountain/Pacific.... +/- 5/6/7/8 Hours difference.

..and its lots of fun, to boot.. Smiley...!

P.S. ..even with this awful, new-fangled Windows 7 installed, my Computer is still spending a lot of its time automatically disconnecting itself from the Internet...whilst I am in the middle of something!... Angry...!

Thanks for the briefing and it looks like a lot of fun.

Now one other thing.

I was going to purchase a new computer system now that we are settled in our new home/condo here and I have been looking at several different motion chairs now available in the United States.

The system was/is going to be used strictly for flight simulating.

I see you and several others are having problems with Windows 7 as I am with Vista. 

Now that the new Microsoft Flight is going to be released I am waiting to see which way I should go.

I have also read here on the Forums about several other flight simulator programs some folks are quite happy with.

I rely on what comments I read here at Simviation as it is the only forum I have and will probably ever belong too.

I am going to wait until I see what is going to happen with Microsoft and their programs and how folks express their opinions about them.

I sure wish someone made a better program than Microsoft to replace Vista or perhaps Windows 7.

Vista is far better than XP, 7 is a bit better than Vista. There is no beating 7 at the moment.


I'm kind of annoyed about the clocks changing, I had to stay up until 2am to check that the time actually went back on my phone before I could go to bed, before waking up at 7 to go to work. Grrrr  Undecided

..and this minute experienced yet another, (of many) BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death)! on this fancy Win 7...something I never experienced with my previous Windows XP!

Even M$ refer to it as the BSOD in the Windows 7 fault reports!

According to a few articles I  went through this morning, Xp users are still 63% of the MS os users. Even that percentage is skewed by the fact that most average pc buyers can't have a choice when they buy a preloaded computer. My choice is XP over W7.. untill they rip it out of my cold dead fingers.   Wink

It'll probably be another year before I upgrade to 7.


Regarding the mulitplayer flights and timezones:

Yes, I'll try to set a time that works for the majority of users that join us on the flights. Usually this means that those in the UK and mainland Europe receive a starting time between 7 and 9pm. If I know more people from mainland Europe are attending (ex: We have some from the Netherlands here), I'll try to start a little earlier than usual, leading to an 8pm flight time for  mainland Western Europe on many occasions. (7pm in the UK)

Keeping in mind the European time desires, I'll also make sure our Western US/Canada folks are fitted with a time that's not too early in the morning.

Overall, this leads me to selecting times usually between 1pm and 3pm US Eastern Time for the flights.

It's difficult to cater to the Aussie/Kiwi market without holding a second flight, but we've had a few devoted Aussies join us in their early morning hours.  Wink
