Hello everyone!

My name is Gonzalo, from Argentina. This is my first post, but the reason is really unhappy..

I'm experiencing terrible game crashes due my PC has run out of memory system.

May be it's an obviuos question, but do i have to expect less FPS in FSX if i use 3 monitors at the same time with ATI Eyefinity than if i use only one monitor?

I use Win7 32bits, 4 Gb DDR3, AMD Cuad Core 2,6 mhz and ATI Radeon HD 5850

The resolution i try to use is 5760x1080, but i use a reasonable video config in the game parameters.

I post some pics of this "nightmare"..

...

...

Thanks in advance!

and the obvious answer would be, yes you're asking too much of your pc. i only have 1 monitor, it's a 24 inchs, and it had cause me some problems in the past. try to lower your resolution in the: 3600x800. and don't crank all your settings to maximum. give your pc some space to breathe. but maybe someone you's running multi  monitors will have a better idea. good luck!

Do you mean the display resolution or the graphic settings (scenery, traffic, etc)?

Changing your pagefile might help.  Set both for 2048MB.

Yes, you will take a fps hit.
I am running 5040x1050 with a 1GB GTX285 and TH2Go.
E8400 at 4.0GHz and 8GB of ram.
It does okay and I have never had the out of memory error.
In Game settings and GFX driver settings:
...
...
...
...
...
...

I haven't done any of the supposed tweaks I have read about. Never really had any boost from them in the past, so I didn't do anything except a clean install of the game a while back. Runs super nice, looks great and never gives any trouble.
I mainly fly GA planes under 5000 feet for the most part and from smaller airports, so I have the heavies off. Lots of road and water traffic for scenery.

EDIT:
I forgot something. One tweak I did do, but really doesn't hurt visuals much and will increase frame rates.
TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=2800
TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS_PER_CELL=3500
Best FPS boost going of anything I have tried, EVER. It is the one and only tweak you really need to do. All those others you read about really don't do much of anything, unless maybe your system was a mess to begin with.
And there are still plenty of trees and buildings to be seen Wink

I am on Vista Ultimate x64 SP2. My video driver is 182.50 (the best one I have tried, for my card/system).

I keep seeing variations of the same thing pop up in this section.  And each and every time I suggest the same fix.

In your fsx.cfg file, under the [GRAPHICS] section, you add the following line:

HIGHMEMFIX=1

A lot of people used to get these types of things when using the heavier type aircraft, especially at Dusk when the sky textures were blended.  Some guy on Avsim came up with this fix, and it completely eliminated all the similar problems that people were having with aircraft like the pmdg stuff.  I would try this one out before doing anything else, especially if you are using the ultra-high screen res.

Snippyfsxer is likely talking about Jesus Altuve..Here's a link to the whole thread. The highme fix does seem to work well. I suggest reading through it, as one mans trash is another mans treasure.

Hi

Thanks for the reply! So, do you think is a good idea to switch to Win 7 64 bits?? I use FS 2004 too!

Thanks

If you are on XP 32 bit, sure. Vista/Win7 are quite an advancement over XP in many ways.
But don't pay full retail for it. You can find great deals sometimes, just keep your eyes open for one and grab it when you see it.

FS2004 runs perfectly on Vista/Win7. I think most any game will run fine on them, except maybe really old ones.

No, i use Win 7 32 bits and i want to know if i will get better performance with the 64 bits system. I heard something about some problems with FS2004 and Win 7 64 bits....is that true??

Not that I know anything about. I have a friend that has Win7 Ultimate x64 and plays FS2004 (he has lots of payware and never moved on to FSX). It runs great for him. Maybe some people had some driver issues or something like that. Like people always blame the devs if their games crash, even though nearly everyone else isn't have a problem.
I still have FS2004 on my system and it runs fine for me with Vista x64 and there is really very little difference between Vista and Win7 (though MS will try to make you believe there is, lol).
I am sure there are plenty of people here running the FS9 on Win7 x64. Check in the FS9 boards to be sure, but I don't think there is any real problem.

I don't know if you will see any major improvement by going from 32 to 64 bit. You will be able to use more ram, of course. But you have 4GB now, which is plenty.
