Back in the dark ages, when FSDS was in version 1.0 (verses the current 3.5), Collin Glendinning (Master Shipwright) started a liferaft project, then shelved it. Cheesy

That was some nine years ago. I recently stumbled across the source file, dusted her off and decided to finish her up. She still needs some tweaking, but will be available soon for rescue missions...and perhaps there;s a crew-sized liferaft on the horizon as well. Roll Eyes

Oh, heck! We'll just have to have versions with and without dye stains in the water (smoke doesn't work well with these for a number of reasons). Single and Crew versions of the raft. Cool

I posted the package of four life rafts this evening:

- US_Raft_Pilot...Pilot in raft, no dye stain
- US_Raft_Pilot_Dye...Pilot in raft with dye stain
- US_Raft_Crew...four Air Crew in raft, no dye stain
- US_Raft_Crew_Dye...four Air Crew in raft with dye stain

They are ships and can be used as such, but work best as infrastructure objects.

They should be available by morning. Smiley

Originally we were going to use her in rescue missions for the Sea Fury and Panther campaigns, but opted to go with placing the downed aircraft floating/sinking at the site. That's why she got shelved and was never quite finished. I was looking for something to do a couple of months ago and ran across the old source file. Been doing a bit here and there ever since. Wink

I'm toying with the idea of doing a detailed texture for the 'old yellow stain'. Perhaps it would look less like a broken egg or an area where the crew relieved themselves. Grin

Not sure if it's worth the effort...particularly since I am 'paintshop challenged'....or (to be brutally frank) can't paint worth a damn. Wink

Tested some varigated textures on the dye patches without enough improvement to warrant the trouble, so I'll leave well enough alone. Wink

Collin, remember this mission from Ocean Fury? Instead of the raft, we just used the broken-up aircraft and signal smoke for the S-51 copter to home in on. We had done the same thing in Bunker Hill with the Panther. Tongue
