I'm helping George Arana out with this Bell 222 for FS9. (George made the Bell 212 and 210 for FS9 as well) This 222 was a work in progress by Alan Devins, who made the current FS9 222 available. This was meant to be Version 2, but was never released. Alan made the source files available and George and I took on the project of finishing the model. The exterior is nearly complete. As you can see, it is way better than the old FS9 Bell 222:

I will try and post more, unedited screenshots another time.

This model will have a VC, so don't worry about that.  Grin We are doing an FS9 version first, and later an FSX version. We will also do other 222 variants, like the B and UT models. For all the latest news on the project, check out our new website, Eagle Rotorcraft Simulations. For those that are wondering, this new site will not affect my old site, "FS Rotorcraft." I just built the Eagle Rotorcraft Simulations site and George is in charge of the "group."

Cool

I am really looking forward to this!

We're finally getting more corporate helicopters for both sims! This, combined with my recent Alphasim Dauphin purchase, and the upcoming Nemeth A-109 will really round things out!

Questions:

1. Just a few questions, is it confirmed that the FSX version is coming later, because I read something either from Hovercontrol or SOH that stated that both versions are being developed at the same time?

2. Also, is this going to have strictly a corporate interior, or will you also be releasing a medivac interior for the initial release, or is that just coming later? (Not quite sure if B or UT strictly designates something as medical....)

3. Systems.....how in depth will this be? Obviously the 222 is a twin engine helicopter, and I know a few developers (such as Jordan Moore of Hovercontrol) seemed to have figured out how to do that in FS9, and it is standard in FSX. Will startup procedures + other stuff be realistic? Along these lines, FADEC or not? (doubt FADEC, but refitting these helicopters is not unheard of)

4. VC gauges....3d gauges or bitmaps? Analogue or Glass? I've seen some placeholder VC images using Jordan's Bell 412 gauges, but I'm wondering what the plans are for the final iteration.

5. Repaints....will there be a layered paint kit? Also, are you accepting repaint ideas for this iteration (assuming it is the A model of the helicopter)? Such as these....

(As you can see, both liveries are the exact same stripe pattern, just with different colors applied).
I was surprised at how few liveries there are specific to the A model helicopter. That'll make things interesting.

6. I have real world experience handling Eurocopter AS-365 Dauphins, and have had one flight at the controls of a Bell 430, so I would be happy to beta test since I have experience with that class of helicopter.  Cheesy  Smiley (FSX testing would be limited by access to that computer since I'm up at Uni during the week, but FS9 would be fine. I'm also really nitpicky with noticing any bugs, so I could be a pain in the rear if I'm selected for testing, so don't bother if you don't want to be hassled that much!  Wink )    Yes I'm sure I'll get a resounding "no!" from this question, but it's worth a shot!  Cheesy

Thanks for any info,

-Sean

We have started the FSX version. It was originally planned to release the 9 and X versions together, but we have decided to release them independently to allow more time for each to be worked on to ensure the highest quality possible.

2. Also, is this going to have strictly a corporate interior, or will you also be releasing a medivac interior for the initial release, or is that just coming later? (Not quite sure if B or UT strictly designates something as medical....)

The base pack we release will be just your standard Bell 222 interior. We will release add-on packs later with different interiors, such as medical. We will do the same for the B and UT.

We are building the gauges/systems off of Jordan's 412, so the startup will be sort of realistic.

4. VC gauges....3d gauges or bitmaps? Analogue or Glass? I've seen some placeholder VC images using Jordan's Bell 412 gauges, but I'm wondering what the plans are for the final iteration.

It will be an analog cockpit with 2D gauges. (bitmaps) These gauges will also be from Jordan's 412.

5. Repaints....will there be a layered paint kit? Also, are you accepting repaint ideas for this iteration (assuming it is the A model of the helicopter)? Such as these....

We will be including a layered PSD paintkit. (Very nice texture layout, making painting easy) You can request repaints over at our website's forums.

Anyone will be a beta tester, as we are releasing a public beta every so often. You will find the next one on our website. (when it's ready) When it's there, just go to the site, click "Projects" in the navigation bar, and click "Bell 222" in the FS9 category and you'll find the download in the sidebar.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.  Smiley
