I screwed up, simple as that.
I extend my apologies for my attempt at humor in the thread yesterday regarding the US presidential and political system. It was a stupid thing of me to do, and I didn't show restraint in adding comments that would likely cause ill feelings among the members here. It will not happen again.
Sorry,
-Sean

I can't say I remember seeing it, but I'm still in hysterics over the Top Gun deleted scene
I wouldn't worry about it too much, I think we all know it came with good intentions

I did not see it, but if it was that bad, you can bet I would have found it funny.....However, as I did not see it, I feel that like many, many people in this world on a daily basis, I have to jump on the band wagon and express my disgust and horror at what you posted. I was extremely offended and am considering bringing a class action due to hurt feelings once I have PM'd a few members to find out what it was you posted in the first place.

Not your cleverest post Sean if I'm honest... having a blonde day perchance?
Don't worry we've all done it at some time, even I've made a posting that with hindsight was dumber than a Radio 1 DJ

Least said, soonest mended. Most people wouldn't know what this is all about. I'm not sure that an apology was necessary in the first place but two is overdoing it a bit.

I thought maybe you were apologizing for double posting.
The last time I posted something like that, I was informed that it was inappropriate by a mod and so I removed my post. Nothing more was said about it. I guess it wasn't bad enough for the mod to delete it himself.

I guess because one of the thing if a stranger come and visit the forum would think that mods or admin request a public apologies to let others in this club to watch how the rules are being obey and follow.
BUT after all this years KNOWING SIMV would be absurd,
IMHO Sean I think your apologies are unnecessary and many of us Understand you, But many other will see it as a weakness ,perhaps the 70% of the active members these day are kids under age of 15 ,they just playing around
I think you are great person , one of the positive things in simviation forums ,Maybe sending a PM to the webmaster or one of the Admin /Mod privately would be more than enough ,In other words someone, a member would ask why do I have to apology this guy for? see?
Its better keep it privately between that person and in your case between admin and you..
Now Please accept my apologies for being honest ,Its just and advise from someone who appreciates you

It's no big deal at all .... just one of those things -- we all make the occasional political comment from time to time ...

Just to clarify...... this
was
a private matter. It was handled by one of the mods and Sean via PM. And it was not "huge" by any means to start with.
That Sean chose on his own to publically post an apology to the entire forum membership shows a LOT of positive character traits on his part. That is a tough thing to do..... and when no one is "making" you do it.... even tougher.
Thank you, Sean, for doing that. It was NOT necessary to "go public".

Very well said John.
And most of us already knew Sean's character was well above average.
I take exception to your statement about Klingons though. The exception is Worf.
If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

Alex, we understood what you were saying brother.
Sean took it upon himself to apologize on his own and we credit him for that. John was just clarifying that no Mod asked him to apologize publicly, he didn't need to, the whole thing was resolved with a PM.

This can be closed now please.
I just felt more comfortable trying to clear the air on my own rather than ignore the whole issue.
I wasn't sure who and/or how many people I upset with my posting in the politics thread since I was unsure how long that thread was up for, and it was addressed by a mod. (Was unaware that it was completely removed by the time I started this thread)
I'm of the mindset that it is better to just acknowledge "I messed up", rather than ignore or fight an issue in a situation.
Thank you, SimV members (and especially mods) for your graciousness on this issue.
-Sean
P.S. I have no idea what's up with that double post. It certainly did not appear like that when I originally made the thread, and I monitored it an hour after I posted since I was unsure if attitudes would be tense around the issue. Only noticed the double today. Computers....lovely things.....sometimes.
