How do you even train for that.  If you freeze up that high, there won't be many options for getting you down.

Its not the fall that kills you, but the sudden stop at the bottom

He puts a lot of faith in those welded-on, hand-hold and foot-hold studs.
Notice how he always grasps TWO hand-holds at a time before letting go of one, and never grasps the rungs on the ladder, always the vertical members....(on a ladder, rungs can break off)... Shocked...!

You can tell he's done this before... Grin...!

"If lighting strikes, there is no quick way down..."

Oh, yes, there is!... Shocked...Trust me!... Grin...!

Paul.... Wink...!

That is the most uncomfortable I've ever been while watching a video.  Shocked Shocked

The butterflies were tearing my stomach apart the whole way up, and I was safe in my chair.  Embarrassed  Grin

I was watching and going, where is his safety gear?

Then it goes they are free climbing and I virtually thought why would anyone on Earth do this job?

I had to remind myself that "170 ft. will kill you just as dead as 1,700 ft..." Grin

All the movement of that head-mounted camera doesn't help.  Undecided

Like Fozzer said- don't open one hand unless the other has a firm grip (you also see him glancing often at feet and hands to confirm what they're on), and there's no problem. But two things bother me about this climb: first, an unexpected gust could ruin your day, and second, there are a couple of awkward maneuvers that have to be made while unclipped!!  Shocked I might make it all the way up the ladders without soiling myself, but that last bit at the very top just looks scary.
