What is the best budget joystick available? (Read 340 times)

Its been quite awhile since I have fired up the sim, did a full bleach and reboot a month or two ago and just now starting to install everything again.  Finally have FS9 halfway back to normal now, still a few additions missing.  Testing out today I discovered my beloved joystick has finally died Cry  Tried calibrating but no go, throttle no longer maintains settings, keeps revving the engines, and no longer will it stay true after getting airborne, if it even allows me to lift off...seems to be shorted out, even during calibration it was bouncing all over the place.

So time to replace it, but my budget is slim.  Not to thrilled about buying used, but I have maybe $20-30 to work with max.  What I'm looking for is a similar setup, doesn't need to be fancy.  But the best bang for the buck, long as it has a throttle control and 4 buttons at the head since I use them for brakes, gear, and flaps, that's all I need.  But wanting something that's going to last awhile.  Probably going to have to order as the stores around here rarely carry anything like it.

Have been using the same Microsoft Sidewinder since my FS98 days, give or take thats around 7-8 years of simming, been through thousands of takeoffs and landings, to the point where the Microsoft logo is nearly worn completely away....best 20 bucks I ever spent back then Cool  But sadly may it rest in peace as of today Cry

Saitec AV8R, 20 to 30 bucks depending where you are. Has 8 toggle positions in mode A and 8 more in mode B. 3 years now and no problems with it. USB powered and easy to set up different profiles for different uses.   Smiley
I did have to clean the gimble where it rotates on the base,
a few times.
