Hi
Has anyone downloaded Perfect Flights Free Live ATC LFPG Mission. As having installed the mission according to Perfect Flights instructions everything seems to work ok except the ATC!. When I launch the mission from FSX a notification displays on sreen to say that the script file is missing. Has anyone had a similar problem or know how to fix it?

Thanks in advance for anyone who can help!

Pete, this is a freeware mission.  Why was it moved here?

I downloaded this mission a couple of years ago and I recall completing the mission without any problems including sound.

I have fsx sp2 installed on an xp 32bit os.

Try downloading and installing again.

Thanks for that kagazi

I'm using MS Vista 32bit. I've tried downloading and reinstalling this mission several times. I suspected at one stage that my pc security was removing the script file on installation, so I disabled my anti malware but still no joy!

I've just downloaded the file from the Perfect Flight website to check it out. Not tried it in FSX yet but everything seems to be included.

I notice it's an auto-install. I suggest directing the install path to a Temp folder to check the files for yourself. You can then install the mission manually.

PS. I tried it in FSX & get this error message.
...

Not sure what the missing script does. The mission appears to load & work fine without it.

Thank you Hagar

Did your installation of this mission play the Live ATC instructions if so, where in the flight did the ATC instructions 'kick in' in case I have missed something?

But I will try your installation suggestions anyway!

It worked as advertised on the Perfect Flight website. The ATC cuts in about 1 minute after pressing the P key.

Mission Briefing:

Charts and Maps are included in the Briefing html file, so you can recall them during the flight.

The mission begins in flight and you are about 50 miles from Saint Prex Vor, at flight level 310, heading 310 direct to SPR.

Press key "P" (pause off) to begin and after few miles you'll be released by Milano Control with Geneve Control.

Continue flying and follow ATC instructions. You will receive vectors for ILS Approach runway 9R

I exited FSX at that point as I'm not interested in missions.

Hi Hagar

The auto installer was definately leaving out a folder tltled Lessons, in that folder there is an .abl file and the .wav files which I assume are the ATC recordings. I did as you suggested and installed to a temp folder then copied the folder into the FSX missions folder. The mission plays but again no ATC. Does the folder titled Lessons containing the .abl and atc wav files need to be placed elseware for this to work?

That seems odd. The auto-installer is correctly configured & should install the files to their correct location provided it's pointed at your FSX root directory. It's set up to extract the files to the default FSX location so unless you installed FSX to a different directory there's no need to change anything. This is how the file is set up. New Folder (17) is the Temp folder I extracted the files to.
...

To save confusion it's perfectly safe to paste the folders named Lessons & Missions into your FSX root directory. Overwrite files/folders when prompted. (This is exactly the same as running the auto-install should do.)

All appears to be working fine for me. Please bear in mind that I'm using WinXP & this is the first time I've tried any mission in FSX.

PS. If you can't get it working it's not the end of the world. It's only one mission after all. Wink

Hi Hagar
Looking into this a bit deeper, the files are indeed being installed where they were intended to be. I have also opened up the .abl file. This shows that the first ATC voice recording should play at around 48 nautical miles from the SPR VOR, but what I get at this point is a voice recording from what sounds like one of the FSX Training Missions which sounds something like ' Speeds Set! - Now set yourself up for the approach' and then nothing else throughout the rest of the mission! - It seems the .abl file sets up the radios and contains the waypoints and triggers for the ATC voice recordings through the mission, but for whatever reason on my installation is not working as it should. I know its only a mission but it looked quite interesting but it is frustrating that I cant get it to run as it should Hey Ho these things happen!

Thankyou for you time and trouble and for trying to help.

Hi again. From what you say it's quite possible that it isn't working properly on my system either. Having never tried a training mission I'm not familiar with the ATC voice recordings.

Perhaps that missing script is causing the problem. I'm not the best person to give advice on this. I can only suggest that you contact Perfect Flight support.
