It is the brand NAME that is going bye-bye... not that there won't be any graphics cards to compete with NVidea.  They will still be making graphics cards... just not under that name. 

And it seems like they are for some units integrating the CPU and the GPU into one "package".

AMD are going to merge graphics and the CPU into a single package, in some of the lower end units. The graphics part will be slow compared to dedicated graphics. The newer dual core Intels already do it.... yes AMD will still release dedicated graphics cards.... AMD Radeon 6000 series comes out soon, and 7000 series is being worked on. And yes, you can usually run dedicated graphics even if you have a CPU with integrated graphics...

You have to wonder now. It used to be the "red team" vs. the "green team'.  AMD's color is green too. Will it now be the "green team" vs. the "slightly darker green team"? Grin
