For your first model, it's looking great. I use gmax. (Have the 3Ds demo currently installed, too) I haven't worked with 3Ds much. Never had much success. Lets face it. GMax is much simpler. But 3Ds can do much more. I wish you luck on the project, and I will help you out anyway I can.

Cool

No problem. The S-61 has been a nightmare. But I'm making progress.

EDIT: Saw the new pics in the Freeware gallery. Looking better and better!

Ok,just to help you  are you aware that and FSX/FS9 models can't have infinitive polygons counts?
other wise the model will be a frozen model in the game fs9 FSX

you can have access in Max9 by pressing  the 7 key (not on the numeric keypad)
and should be less than 100.000
...

also ,Have you exported any object yet?
see , exporting a model sometimes can be very challenge, if you a re using FSX-SDK you may need to update direcX9 and frameworks among many other things ,as for FS9-SDK there are certain things that probably will give you trouble and WE are ready to help you .
Good luck

Hi Alex , thank you for the nice comment and advice. I will probably only try a fsx model first and to be honest am quite scared of the xporting bit ... I have no idea what to do yet and even the texture or uv mapping sounds difficult ... Also my model has a few naked edges so am doing a cleanup and prob a rebuilt as I am already on 40 000 polys on the exterior alone ... Also I am using rhino 3d and then exporting it to 3ds max 9 ... Will look at your site and keep in touch..     Thanks again
Ethan
