Me and a few of the 747 Mechanics were talking, and I bet you Boeing forgot to improve the Turning radius on the 747-8. ..........
Smarter people than us have done all the design work on this project..... do you really think they would miss a thing like this ?
In a word "YES!!!!"
I have worked on the Block #9 1988 C-17 all the way to the block #18/19 2008 Model, and you still can't jack it properly to change the Main Landing Gear tires! And Boeing was trying to push for a B model with double tricycle landing gear on the center belly, and when I ask some the Field Engineers "How are we supposed to change those?" they said they had no idea because that part of the plan had not been thought of yet, so the only thing we came up with is full fuselage jacking, which is a pain in the butt and waste of time.
So Yeah I think they would over look something as minute as that, after all trying to get the down lock actuator out of the wing gear on a 747, is freaking hard and time consuming, since the panel were built around it.
