Supermarine S6.B

Easily one of the most aesthetically pleasing aircraft ever imagined!

I.m positive I have, or had, that aircraft in FS9 or FSX.  I remember reading the bit about winning the Schneider Trophy in the file ID.  It's not showing up in a file search, so I may have to dig around in my DL archive. That may take a while, and I can test it in FSX, unless someone else finds it first.
Edit:  Cranked up FS9.  I was remembering a "Nieuport-Delage NiD450", which looks similar. Tongue

Additional edit: And it works fairly well in FSX.  It just needs some tweakage of the front float points...

The aircraft above and the supermarine were included in a virtual schneider trophy package that came with all the scenery for the IoW as well (it was for FS9)....I seem to remember having an online race with some other members Cheesy

Can't find a link anywhere now though....

The FS9 version is still available on obscure websites. Google for  VSP29_2.zip. It's an FS9 model with the usual bugs in FSX. (Mainly incompatible gauges.) It has a VC.

The contact points will need a little work if you want to use it in FSX. The visual model displays fine except for the prop disc behind clouds. You won't be flying high enough for that to be a problem.

Here's a shot in FSX + Acceleration. It's actually an S.6A.

PS. Only one gauge appears to be incompatible. The Sopwith turn coordinator. I replaced it with a similar FS9 default gauge.

I found the complete set of VSP files posted at the Old Hangar. This includes the Nieuport NiD 450. http://www.theoldhangar.net/toh_downloads.html

Looking at some of those, I see 1930's air pirates similar to some of the illustration in the old pulp fiction.  My Uncles had a pretty good collection  Cheesy

I seem to recall these aircraft from the Schneider Trophy are all available over at Flightsim.com.
I've got the S.6 for the simple reason that I worship the work of RJ inspite of one or two less stylish planes, his final piece, well 'nuff said!

There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!
